Did VZW pull a fast one on me?
So last week I renewed my contract for another 2 years, and with the NE2 got the RAZR. When I was there, the rep put me on a new contract. Old one was 400 anytime min and $100 credit towards a new phone in 2 years. The new one is 450 anytime min., however, you only get $50 credit for a new phone in 2 years.
I asked if I can just stay on the old one since I don't use that many anytime min, and that extra $50 seems great, but the rep said that I couldn't. Is this a lie, or did she tell the truth. THanks

She was 100% correct. Your 450 minute plan has nothing to do with the $50 New Every 2 credit. Effective 2/5/06, any upgrades done after that point, your NE2 credit will be based upon your monthly access fee. The only way that you will be entitled to the $100 credit again is if you are on a plan of $79.99/month or higher. Anything less than that and you will only be entitled to a $50 credit. Being that your plan is $39.99, you will fall into the $50 credit category. Sorry if that was not explained better, but she was telling the truth.

If you used NE2 BEFORE 05Feb06 you'll get one last NE2 credit of $100. After that it's based on your rate plan and what you pay for it.

-What happens is after a period of time Verizon will remove plans. Almost always the new ones are better for the customers. So yes she was correct on the fact that she could not put the new contract on that plan. I myself just made one of those changes about 20 minutes ago.

Then... How does the VZW Merrits Program Fit into the picture... Plans under $79.99 are NE2 $50 and plans over $79.99 are discounted phones plus $100 every year???

no the merits program entitles you to get a discounted phone every year if you renew for another 2 yrs, but if you want the NE2 credit you have to complete 22 months from the last time you bought a subsized phone.
