Every company has their supporters and detractors

I don't appreciate verizon and their control freak ways. The ui is horrendous and I don't like it. It's funny how you verizon heads stick together and never think outside the box. Throughout the years verizon continues to strip away more and more functions of my handset. What is the straw that will break the back of the verizon sheep herd? More BS restrictions are coming your way. Believe dat

Just my .02 cents

ya know its funny that you all keep complaining about the new UI, but what you dont udnerstand is that there were majority of our custoemrs complaining b/c all the phones didnt navigate the same, and nobody wanted to switch from one manufacturer to the next b/c you didnt want to get used to another phone. plus if you call in with a problem, we now have standardized troubleshoting. no matter what someone is going to be mad, and we will just deal with it

Very true that every company has its supporters & detractors, people need something to occupy their minds... 🙂

Verizon's main fallability that I've experienced is unreliable billing in certain areas, exacerbated by micromanagement & red tape in the way of resolving the issues. Seen many customers over the years with totally screwed up bills - who could not get anything corrected without raising total heck...

You can say the same thing about any huge corporation. I work for Cingular trust me it is no different. I am an expert at working my way around policy at Cingular. but most reps at Cingular live in fear of red tape and discipline. All big company try to standardize policy and procedures in customer care and it never works.

O.k I posted this in the wrong tread earlier it oviously belongs here:

Now about the UI...No it's not the greatest looking UI i've ever seen myself and the main thing that turned me off is that it took away the Personality of the Phones, but It really has nothing to do with Verizon wanting to control everything....I't more about simplicity If a customer Swithes from One phone to another of a different manufactor they don't have to go through the trouble of learning a whole new interface and if you've really taken the time to check out the RAZAR You'd see that although the UI is in Verizon's format getting around in it is No different than any other Motorola. Now don't get me wrong I'm no big fan of the UI myself because as a sales rep It...

I do not work for verizon, and, I for one like the idea of the UI being the same on all the phones. A lot of times, I stay with the same manufacture for the reason of not wanting to learn a new phone, now with them all having the same UI, I can look at other manufactures a little more. I do not get what the big deal is with that red bar in the screen, so what, most phones are flip phones, they are closed, and you only see it a second before you start pushing buttons. what, do people open their phones and stare at the main screen forever....for me anyway, who cares if there is a red bar on top of the screen, as long as the phone does what it is suppose to do, work as a phone...People need to start realizing that these are phones first, the...

So I just got the LG VX8100 (and I'm pretty happy...).

I've been lurking around some time and note how often the UI seems to be an issue for people. It must be something awful...

Then I got the 8100.

That's what you people are complaining about? That's it??

From what I read, I expected to see a wallpaper dislay area the size of a stamp and when I fired it up, even the outer display had more area than my old a670.

The UI just is not that bad.

Those that think that Verizon is taking control of everything probably are mad that you pay for songs on Napster. Yet, wouldn't peep a second about Apple/OSX and proprietary systems.

It's a menu button for cry eye.

I agree. Personally I dont find the UI to be that bad at all.

I guess some people want more control of their phone however--the freedom to make even the menu look, structure different than a friend who might have the same one.

Oh well... can't please everyone.

and no company will ever please everyone. Best thing to do, if you dont like it, leave, if enough leave over something, then a company will listen.

I agree, I didn't notice the red bar until several people complained about it. I do miss the alarm feature LG had on some of their other phones, being able to simply set a 10 min alarm quickly was nice, but I'll live. I am looking forward to finally talking my mother in law into giving up her nokia and getting a regular phone simply because of the similar menus on all of them. She calls and can never remember how to change something on her phone, and while it was mine several years ago, I can't remember how to walk her through anything on that phone. Nokia's menu never made sense to me. When I can get her into a newer phone, I can look in my phone and then tell her how to change the ring or whatever. I really love the quicker way to put...

That was an option you use to have, but verizon has stripped away that choice for you. You know longer have any choice. Red bars for life no verity. Verizon continues to strip amd control your handset a litlle at time.

Even if they stripped down to just being able to make phone calls it would still be light years ahead of the first cell phone I ever had. AND i would still be able to make calls in more places than any other carrier.

Obviously there arent enough nerds or geeks or cell phone junkies out there who let Verizon know or I am sure they would make some comprimises for you.

I, along with tens of millions of other customers are perfectly happy with Verizon and its standard UI.

Unfortunately brah most peeps won't understand your contempt for the UI. A lot of people on this forum believe verizon is the best without having tried any other service but still insist verizon is the best. You must forgive them they are bandwagon jumpers and are afraid to voice an opinion that differs from the majority. These same people sit on the sidelines until its time to jump in with their 'Go Verizon!' attitudes and take offense that someone has attacked their precious forum. I hate the UI too, and don't give a fig what anyone thinks 😁

Carry On!

tell me about, that is why I left verizon. I got the blade now with sprint and it kicks ass over verizon. Power vision rocks over the lame v-cast service. plus I can view full html pages. Sprint is way better, and no red bars

Amry-

This one sounds like one for Cindy Sheehan. You should give her a call and go have a good old fashion sit down until Verizon CEO comes out to explain this one to you. Best of luck we are all rooting for you. 🤣

Honestly, if you find the issue such that you want an alternate, you should take what action you see fit.

Before you do so, you do realize that it will void your warranty. I don't mean that in a mean spirited way but you understand that if something goes wrong with the phone or even a UI switch over, you will have no technical help from Verizon nor the manufacturer. Again, not intending to be a pill but wanted to make sure that your decision, when the time comes, is fully informed.

MISSIOM ACCOMPLISHED

I stayed up half the night but I now have the Motorola ui on my Motorola phone. I'm really not sure why the red bars drove me so nuts, I just didn't like the red its not a very soothing color. I have put my favorite surfing wallpaper on and feel much better. If anyone wants to do the same follow the link and feel free to email me if you have any question, I will be more then happy to help. I have object push and verizons quality service, I'm GOOD TO GO 🙂

yep, me too. I have a nice Marine Corps emblem that blends right in. I do hope in the future they give us at least a half dozen color choices though 😁
