Defective Equipment

Does Verizon have a policy regarding defective equipment? I've had an LG 8100 since August, and since about mid-september I've had tons of problems with it. I'm on my 3rd phone, and now I'm having problems with the phone's battery. Is there a policy that would allow me to get a new phone if I've had persistent problems with my phone?

I don't know what area you are in but that is DEFINITELY not the policy in the NE. If you have had 3 FRU replacements of the same type you can ask the tech to replace your phone w/ a comparable model replacement. There may also be early upgrade eligibity (which in this case is not the case because you have to have had the equipment 1 year).

yeah, after the FRU units you can ask to try a different phone of comprable value...I just had problems with my LG 8000 and wound up getting an e815 which I am pretty happy with right now. Make sure you are assertive and let them know you mean business, I've seen reps try to push people in one direction or another and it isnt always the best thing for the customer, its usually the best thing for VZN.

Multi-Fru policy.

Handset has had 3 or more replacements within a 60 day period (two months)
Probable cause of failure is not customer related (dropped phone, customer neglect, water/liquid damage to handset)
Current handset shows no/little signs of wear/tear (expected signs of use are the execption)

telling them u mean business will get u nowhere....we can only exchange under manufact guidelines...vzw hasd nothing to do with it, we only sell the phones, not make them, therefore we need to follow the manufacturer policies. thanx for whoever posted the the multi-fru policy...it DOES have to be the 3rd exchange within 60 days in order to switch to another model. it's in a data base called m&p's (methods & procedures)...it doesnt matter if u had 10 in one year...if u havent had 3 in 60 days your screwed.

I don't know what the manufacturers warranty is on LG, but my Samsung came with a 1 year manufacturers warranty. So as long as it was a defect within 1 year, it was replaced with the same model. I know someone who had problems with his Samsung a650 freezing up. He has had the phone less than a year, and Verizon tried to do a firmware update, and the phone refused to take the update, so Verizon gave him a new phone out of the box, and not a refurbished model. Each manufacturer has different replacement policies, but I know Samsung is 1 year. My sister has the Samsung a850 and also comes with a 1 year manfacturers warranty.

Actually... VZW does not make the phones and is under no obligation to replace them.. After 7 V710's, I was told repeatedly there were no issues with the phone and that it would not be replaced anymore... After numerous calls to customer service, they sold me the LG8100 at 25% off... I paid with that discount $399.00... Needed a working phone.. Just to find I could have paid retail at $299.00... Then a call to customer service said, I should have checked this before I purchased - No refund... After 3 LG8100's I had to replace it again.... But, remember these words... BBB.ORG.. Better Business Bureau... After a letter and then a reply to them.... Boy did I get a NEW replacement and compensation for my problems... 10 phones in 9 months... And,...

Your an idiot. Plain and simple. People like you keep the prices of phones high.

Verizon DOESN'T make the phones. They can't tell motorola or LG what their warranties should be. They make phones for other carriers as well.
You went through 7 V710's, and 3 8100's??!!
Obviously the problem doesn't lie with the phones. It's what we call a one-d-ten-t issue. (1d10t) Or more commonly, the retard customer who wants a new phone, but doesn't wanna pay full price nor upgrade + extend contract so lets make up a billion things wrong with my phone until they have to give me a new one! Yes we have special names for you people and we do note your account heavily.

Customers like you I despise. Oh how I WISH you would have came in and deal...
