DKVZW

Jan 19, 2006, 8:15 AM
According to Verizon Wirless

The Worry Free Guarantee -
ability to switch teers of minutes with-in your existing contract will be gone as on Feb 1st. 2006. So if you have 900 minutes and want to ether upgrade or downgrade you'll extend your contract.

Verizon Wireless has said they've mailed this to all the paper based billing customers.

It has been that way, for as long as I've been with Verizon Wireless, in the midwest.

Was one of the selling points for me. Has a big banner up "Worry Free Guarantee....."

Here is a link.

A part of this Guarantee was the ability to add/remove minutes with out extending your contract (Atleast in the North East).

If you're in the North East. You have until
Feb 1st 2006 to decide how many minutes are you going to be using without extending your contract.

Yeah, they've edited it down.

I invite you to call CSR and ask, What major change to my contract is happening on Feb 1st 2006?

I didn't know that was the edited version. I am a CSR and as I said, its been that way for me. I've been listening to people complain about extending their contracts when taking advantage of new promotions for a long time now.

I just spoke with CSR about this, I am guessing CSR is separate East/West somehow. (My guess..)

I've also submitted an online qustion since I was not notified of this.

If you get a paper bill, read it. It's probably on there as is any change that needs to be made.

Actually, all bills, both paper and paperless have the same bill notices. The printer friendly bill does have the notices available..albeit easier to miss if you don't view it.

Consider yourself lucky to have been able to change without penalty for as long as you have. I have been with another carrier for years, and anytime I've wanted to change anything in my service, with exception to the actual phone, my contract automatically got extended. Nothing new to most of us....

There is no change happening to your contract. The Worry Free is not in the contract that you signed. Have you ever read the terms and conditions of your contract?? I am guessing not since you are refering to this policy change as a contract change. And the Worry Free is not gone, that is BS. It looks like it willm be slightly modified, but that does not mean it is gone!!! Please refrain from posting false information on this site. Many people come here looking for info and you are constantly posting false/incorrect info, which is not very fair to the person trying to do there research.

I realize that you are anti-VZW and that is fine, you are entitled to your opinion, but remember that opinions are like a**holes everyone has on...

So wait, in you're post you're dibble-dabbling the fact that this ability will be gone on Feb 1st 2006. That CSR (NorthEast) has said they've issued paper notices - though this was VASTLY/Loudly advertized in 2005/2004?

No. Text messaging plans are features codes and have nothing to do with the cellular rate plan.

I've never had a customer sign a new contract to downgrade their plan. Just to upgrade.
(i.e. going from 900 minutes to 450 = worry free, 450 minutes to 900 = new contract)

That kinda sucks.

What if you're out of contract, and want to switch to a different amt of minutes?

You'd be required to sign a new contract anyway...

Or better. Your company could be Nextel or T-Mobile and come out with plans that existing customers can't even get...much less even with a contract.

DKVZW,

I don't want to cause a fight or anything...

I thought that you left Verizon..

Why are you so concerned with what they are doing if you aren't a customer any longer?

Here in the west, if you change your price plan, it has extended your contract, upgrade date stays the same..Hell I have seen the contract date be earlier than the upgrade date...

Companies can ask for it, I'd not agree to it. Changing a plan is not, in my opinion, worth agreeing to a new contract with an early termination fee. This is something I've always felt while working through 2 separate cell companies, made my feelings known! Last I heard Cingular was the only company that didn't try to spike existing customers with new contracts for plan changes...
