I am currently using a Nextel phone and don't want to have to retype 400 telephone numbers. Do any of VZW current phones use a SIM card or do any of them have the ability for me to upload from a .CSV file? Thanks to all.

Only the global phones, which probably isn't what you're looking for. The Verizon Wireless stores have a device that will transfer your phone book from one phone to another regardless of the service provider as long as both phones can power on. There is normally a $10 charge for the transfer.

The phonebook transfer machine I use has a sim card reader built in for situations where we don't have correct cables for another carrier's phone. We can stick the card directly into our machine.

If you get a Motorola phone, Motorola Phone tools and the data cable for that phone, it will accept a .csv file for phonebook transfer. No VZW phones for exclusive use in the US have SIM cards.

there are some verizon phones that have both cdma and gsm technologies in them, so technically yes there are verizon phones that can use sims cards but verion doesn't support or use gsm... Moto and nokia have phones that are both cdma and gsm (sims cards) that verizon uses.

Since VZW doesn't currently have phones that support SIM, does anyone know of a way for me to transfer my contacts to a VZW phone? Can they be downloaded from the net in .csv format? Or any other ways? Thanks to all.

most verizon store or verizon agents have a machine called a cellbrite...they use this machine to transfer number from one phone to another...this machine has a card that you put your sims card in, then it copies the contacts off the sims card and transfers them to the cell phone. In northeast ohio most verizon dealers charge $15 dollars for phonebook transfers..at least thats how much we charge.....most agents don't know they have a "card" that you can place the sims in unless they have competors that use gsm technologies in there area...

The best thing I can suggest is go to radio shack,
buy a $10-$20 cable for you Nextel Phone that they sell for "Future Dial" software.

Get another data cable for your new VZW phone, import/export the phonebook.

Dealers should also have equipment that makes this transition easier.

But check your data since it may not all get where its going. SIM card text/phone fields are limited. While non SIM based phonebook database can have additional fields like 'Home,Mobile,Email etc.." where plain old SIM is just NAME + NUMBER.

So your new phone may support
"John Smith" -> Home Phone, Mobile Phone
-> NPANXX , NPANXX

Where your SIM has
"John Smith Mobile" -> NPANXX
"John Smith Home" -> NPANXX

So if you do the da...
