Internet Sellers like Let'stalk.com

I am looking to move to Verizon from Cingulat at the beginning of the year. I keep seeing these ads on this forum for companies like Let"s Talk.com that offer the Motorola E815 for free with rebates. Has anybody had any experience with this type of way to initiate service? Can they port numbers over? What do you do while the phone is in transit? As you can see I have some questions about whether these sites are not scams and if they are reliable how does the process work.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

i would be very careful from ordering anything from online.. if you chose to buy it on your credit card..

is it becuase you want to get it becuase the product is for free? one must think about these things.. i would just go to cingular and purchase the phone outright... remmeber you pay for what you get.

they are reps so it should be reputable however, they can be scams also.. they will also do the same things that author reps would do such as transporting numbers etc.. but sometimes you have to talk to cingular also or whoever the provider you want to port it over.. i tell people never to deal with online cell phone dealers like that but go to a true authorized rep and to the cellular store. (online or in person)

if you want to ...

My understanding is that letstalk and wirefly.com offer the phones at discounted prices yes but not only do you sign a service agreement with the provider (IE cingular, verizon, sprint) but you also sign a contract with that third party (IE letstalk). Like others have said I would be wary of those websites and be sure you are fimilar with the return policy. good luck

...on top of the (which is 100% true) two ETFs, most of the time the reason why they say the phone is free is because they send you a time-deferred rebate... Meaning you pay (up-front) $100, then they send you a coupon later on that needs to be filled out and then mailed in after 180 days of contract completed BUT post-marked before the 210th day... BTW, time-deferred rebates are ALWAYS refused initially. They're banking on you either forgetting to return the form or filling it out wrong... Go to a store...

they are what i like to call LEGIT SCAMS.

read the t's & a's carefully word for word.

9 times out of 10 it will say you are contracted by the carrier and them (wirefly or lets talk..online sales, etc.) and yea your get a e815 or whatever free UPFRONT but you first bill will show the FULL RETAIL PRICE FOR IT. yea they give you the vzw carrier mail in for $50.00 bucks and an additional mail-in from them for some large amount which usually ends up making it seem as if you are gettin extra money from them. BUT YOU ARE PAYING FULL RETAIL FOR THE PHONE. for example: MOTO E815 FREE* 😉 (need the star of course). PLUS AND ADDITIONAL $85.00 IN MAIL IN REBATES*. this is how it will go: you will receive a phone free but billed full retail ...

and on top of that folks with bad or no credit get it even worse because the vendor may also charge a deposit and it may sometimes not be refundable.

As they say if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Thanks for the advice.

no problem.. just use your common sense..

remember "you pay what you get it for" and if you pay online make sure it has the "httpS" and SSL and pay by CREDIT CARD!

good luck man. 🙂

i personally woulnt use any company thats related to inphonic.com

keep in mind though, if you buy from any indirect (stores other than vzw corp stores) they could be selling you a used or refurb phone for that discount and my experiance has been that they wont tell you is used either.

dont all you indirects get mad at me for saying that, i know there are some good honest indirects out there, so im not talking to you. 😛
