Replacement for the Motoroal E815

I am looking to switch over to Verizon from Cingular Service. I have been told that the Motorola E815 is one of the best phone currently available on Verizon (especially where reception and call quality are concerned). We are wanting to make sure we have a good phone but are not surprised in the next month or two that a replacement for the E815 is around the corner and we did not know about before we lock overselves into a phone and 2-year agreement. So, do anyone know of a replacement from Motorola in the works for the phone or a competitor that will bring a better phone to market in the next two months?

Thanks

The E815 just came out this summer (July, I think). I wouldn't look for its replacement until late next year. The V3c is probably equal to or better than the E815 (depending on what you think of the styling of the RAZR...I think it's sh*t). It should be available, based on what I've read here, on Dec 16th. The VZW website is already advertising it's imminent release. You may want to wait until you can compare the two.

I can guarantee you with absolute certainty, however, that before your 22 months are up, a better phone will be out. That's a good thing, though.

There isn't much in the works that will replace the E815 on Motorola's lin...

I would simply repeat SForsyth01's comments. My wife has the Sam950 and she loves it. I like the phone as well, but I've had my eye on the LG8100 for a while. NOw, I've heard a lot of people complain about volume fluctuations in the 8100 which has had me lean sometimes to the 950, but I think I like both better than the Moto815- as far as looks, feel, sound, and displays. At some of the Agent Stores, though, we are offering a coupon for a music bundle that includes a Platform Stereo Headset, A 16mb Transflash Card, and a USB SD Card Reader for free when you purchase the Moto815. Granted, those parts are probably on the lower end, they're still free... Each phone has a different antenna- the Sam950 has an internal one- haven't noticed any r...

For what its worth, I have the 950 also and am nothing but pleased with it, actually I am listening to the MP3 player as I type, its very good quality.

I have not had a problem with reception either and I think the phone has a very good build quality.

I, personally, love everything about the a950 except for one thing. LG has spoiled me. I cannot read the text messages and missed calls on the outer screen of the 950 so I wouldn't be able to deal with that. Now the 970, that phone would be perfect for me. I might try to get that one for my V710 Settlement (if they will let me).

That is a downfall not being able to read text on the outside screen, another BIG deal for me is not being able to add new words to the T( dictionary.

You can't do that on the 950??? Cause you definately can on the 8100. All you have to do is type the word in a text message in normal tap method (ABC) and then immediately (before hitting space or using punctuation) switch back to T9. That automatically stores the word in the T9 dictionary. I don't see why the 950 wouldn't do this because they use the same OS.

I know, I have no idea why it wont add, I didnt beleive it myself when I heard it from a customer so I tried it on my phone, sure enough, cant add words. I hope they fix this with a software update.

Wow....that sucks. Cause Verizon told me yesterday that if my replacement 8100 that I just got doesn't work they will replace it with "one of the Samsung's, probably the 950."

Any chance they would give me the 970 if this 8100 has the volume problems since the 950 is missing the capability of reading text messages on the outer screen and this T9 word storage problem????

Hopefully this 8100 won't have the problem, but I just want to know what to expect from VZW if it does.

I think I still would side with the 815. I mean, the fact that the memory caps at only 512 kinda sucks, but other than that...
You can send MIDI's from the card to yourself as a pic message (up to 3 on one msg) and turn around and save them as ring tones (my 815 plays One Winged Angel whenever the store calls me).
The MP3 Volume kinda lacks, but I heard there's a way around it if you chose to re-seam the handset.
I like how professional it looks. I mean, the Samsung and LG are great phones, don't get me wrong (LG,Moto are my 2 favs for high-end handsets). I dont really know if at this point we're going to see any IMPROVEMENT on an EVDO phone until better screens come out (something better than 172x12😎 Now if a phone came out with a stand...

I will never go back to the E815. I tried that one, went through 3 of them, and switched to the 8100. The e815 software kept locking and resetting at least 5 times a day. That is completely unacceptable to me.

I doubt very seriously that they will let you have a 970 since that would be considered an upgrade, the 950 is almost identicle to the 8100 with a few exceptions and they caost about the same, they wont let you upgrade to the 970 since cost on it is about $130 more than the 950 or 8100.

Yeah, that's what I thought. But the guy I talked to said they would consider either one. I don't know anymore. I just hope my 8100 works.
