What's with the new process????

I went into the Verizon store last night to get my phone looked at for the volume fluctuation problems (LB VX8100) and I have NEVER seen so many disgruntled customers and potential customers in a Verizon store in my life. Here's why:

They have implemented a new process where everyone who comes into the store has to register with this touch screen computer system. Then you simply wait and wait and wait. Most people said they were in the store for about 2 hours before anyone actually acknowledged them in any way. This is going to be horrible for business, in my humble opinion. At least before this system, sales reps said "hello, we will be with you as soon as we can." Now, they don't even know you are there until your name shows up on...

One of the VZW stores near me (White Plains, NY on Central Avenue) is horrible. You get there and sign in, and then supposedly they call your name. Everytime I have been there it's been a bad experience. Their customer service is terrible, and there is always a very long line and only one or two techs. The parking lot is always jammed, and no one helps you in any meaningful way. Luckily normally I know what I want and don't need help, except when it's waiting on line to deal wit h tech support. The other store near me (In the Westchester Mall) does not have any kind of tech support, they are merely a storefront (I got my V60s there last December 26th).

What is the point of going to a "corp" verizon????? It makes no sense go to an agent! Most of them are more focused on customer service rather than making more money by up selling. This is just my advise...

It is the corporate stores that we are complaining about.

I know that. That is why I am saying that. Why does everyone complain about them? Do something about it and go somewhere else! Like an agent for Verizon. They can do the same things!

Agents cannot do the same thing. Agents cannot give you new every 2. They also cannot give you a warranty replacement phone nor can they do software updates on existing equipment. There are many reasons why one would have to go to a corporate store.

The Cingular store in my neighborhood has a sign-in sheet... This just seems like a more high-tech way of doing it... If Cingy would've added 1.9 mil customers per quarter than maybe they would've installed the R2D2 sign-in computer...

Couldn't agree more, though. It seems most carriers (in Central Florida) opted out of hiring add'l employees and moved to these methods...

in my area at the vzw corp store you could expect to wait for about one and a half hours before being seen. so many people rush to an agent like myself for help with sales or simple repair (if we can handle it). but they come in pissed ad telling a story about the long wait and threaten to cancel (like i'm loyalty care). but there is another corp store 30-45mins away and our traffic is horrible so you can add to that. i havent been there in a few days but if our corp stores get them or have gotten them they will definatly go down. these days people are itchin' to have a reason to cancel and this will be a big one. they should hire more people or stick to what was working. but when your customer base grow 1 million plus a quater thats what ha...

OK here's a look from the inside. We are not allowed to hire an infinite number of employees. Believe me I know we need more employees. So please send in an email through the website and share your unsatisfaction of the wait times. Maybe in addition to more employees we just flat out need more corporate stores. Our store is the only corporate store for about a 60-70 mile radius. So some customers have no choice but to drive over an hour to do a warranty exchange for example. There are now 43.9 million customers and there are NOT 43.9 million employees. You will have a wait time in the stores. I compare it to going to a restaurant. Customers come in and want to look at all the phones before they buy. How long do you spend in a sit d...

The good old saying of "guess you cant please everyone" is all too true. The main reason this was done was due to the amount of feedback from customers saying there should be a process of that nature! Customers complain and cry that when a store gets busy there is no organization, or no one knows what you need, or no one tells you where go or who to talk to, the famous "I was here X minutes before that person why is he/she getting waited on", "you mean I waited in line for 10 minutes for you to tell me I just need to speak with the person at the other counter",...etc etc etc.

So a process is brought out that eliminates all of those scenarios but now the customers complains they have to take a ...

WHAT BUSINESS WILL TOLERATE A CUSTOMER STANDING AROUND FOR 2 HOURS WITHOUT TAKING CARE OF THEM? ONLY VERIZON........NAME ANOTHER PLACE THAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND AND WAIT THAT LONG BESIDES THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND THAT IS A GOVERNMENT AGENCY AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SOMEONE CANCELING THEIR SERVICE. ENOUGH SAID.

GOOD POINT!!!!! Verizon may have the best (least bad) customer service among the major wireless carriers. However, they still have a very arrogant take-it-or-leave-it attitude. The wireless companies are outgowths of the old Bell System and still seem to have the utility company mentality. The CS experiances I've had (VZW and the old AT&T Wireless) may be state-of-the-art for the Wireless industry, but are terrible compared to most other business sectors.

Have any of you that are complaining about waiting in the store stopped and asked yourself what exactly cases the wait? Its is because customers don't have their decisions made prior to coming to the store. If all the customers would look around and see what is out there say a month or two before their upgrade then they could be in and out of the store in under 15 minutes. It is not uncommon to spend a minimum of an hour with some customer that hasn't had a phone in two years. That means they don't even know how to use the camera function or any of the advanced functions of the phone. And most customer are not as quick to pick up on how things work.
