I took my new VZW 6256i out to a fringe area na dtested it agianct the Nkia 3585i "wamart Wonder Phone" Basically the 3585 is a no color version of the VZW model (forgot the VZW model number?)and was sold as an Alltel prepaid, meaning it can lock on to lots of carriers the VZW version may get locked out of, due to a more picky PRL list.
The 6256i was nearly as good as the 3585i and really hung on to calls out in the boonies. This version also has an aftermarket external antenna adapter, which I'm not sure how good it will work, since it uses what I believe is a test port just below the antenna. This is not the beefy Nokia antenna port like the 5100/6100 series TDMA phones, but a little gold port soldered on the board. I bought one f...

I think the VZW 'wonder phone' you's referrin' to is the 3589. A lotta people still rave about that phone's reception, nice ta know that my six two five six is in the same league.

Assuming that indeed VZW's pricing for the Razr is off the charts, why wouldn't someone get a non-contract priced one from Alltel and activate it on VZW as their price is $365 and they are also CDMA?
