Radio Shack and NE2

I spoke to a Radio Shack manager yesterday, and asked him if they participated in the NE2 program, and he told me that yes, they do. Of course they didn't have the 6256i yet, but eh. It's good to know the local RS's use the NE2.

Maybe it varies from store to store?

You may want to double-check that - RS stores don't honor NE2. They aren't the most reputable people in the world - it's a guaranteed bait and switch to get you into the store. He figures you'll be so hot to buy the phone that you'll get over your anger of finding out NE2 doesn't apply that you'll just buy it anyway.

Actually I was already standing in the store.

Besides if they say they participate in something, then go back on it, that's false advertisement and illegal.

Plus, unfortunately for them, I'm not dumb enough to buy the phone without the NE2. The only way I would participate in a sales transaction would be the NE2.

But whatever.

From past experience, Radioshack may deduct $100 from the FULL RETAIL price and call it the New Every Two. I've heard of this happening to customers on more than one occasion. They're never very happy when I tell them they have to work with Radioshack's return policy in order to get the actual discounted price in a corporate owned store. Now keep in mind that Radioshack owns their own inventory. We have no bearing on their pricing, so if they want to give you the New Every Two, that's completely up to the owner.

Indirect channels can offer their own NE2. Would it be as cheap as VZW's NE2? Maybe not, depending on phone. However, the Nokia phone is going to be an indirect channel exclusive...so it cannot be purchased at a VZW retail store under the NE2. This is VZW's way of leveling the playing field when it comes to sales. Since the NE2 program (with the extra 100 bucks) is not offered through the indirect...which isn't fair...VZW levels things out by offering phones to the indirect channel that are exclusive only to them...also isn't fair. Neither is fair for the consumer...but it is VZW's way to try to patch things up between the channels...

My local radio shack said they take $150 off retail for current customers that re-up for 2 years. We'd still be losing $100!

RS does NOT give NE2! NE2 is VZW direct, period!
