Now I am seeing great deals from Amazon. whats the deal ? How does this differ from the Verizon store or RS?

The difference is that you are only purchasing the service from VZW and not the phone. If you purchase the phone from VZW, you can have your phone serviced in a VZW store. If you purchase your phone from Amazon (even though the price may be cheaper), you will have to abide by the warranty given to you by Amazon. Not only that, but when you purchase a phone from a 3rd party vendor, you generally have to sign a secondary agreement with that vendor stating that if you cancel your service early, not only will you have to pay an ETF to VZW, but also to Amazon. VZW does not care if you get your phone from Amazon, but don't blame VZW if you are unhappy with the phone and don't get the level of service on warranty issues that you would get from ...

Sounds like a huge "disconnect" between the service and the phone. Is this the same with Sprint? Cingular supported all phones no matter where they are bought. Just wondering because this is a concern as there are many different ways to become a Verizon customer. But it appears there are a few different Verizons depending upon what door you entered the room from.

No, that's not it at all. Our stores are very good about helping with phone issues, regardless of where the phone was purchased. The only disconnect comes with the replacement of defective phones (warranty issues). Sometimes, if the supply of warranty replacements from the manufacturer get low, they may not be able to replace the phone in store and may direct you to contact the point of sale about a replacemnt at that point. Again, doesn't happen often, but when it does, you may have to go through Amazon to have the phone replaced under warranty. Sorry, didn't mean to scare you! 🙂

Oh ok So if I were to pick up a phone from RS Verizon will or will not deal with warranty iisues after Jan 1?

This is pretty important becasue RS is still selling Verizon service but will not after the first of the year I understand.

I can't tell you 100% for certain what will happen after Jan. 1, but my best guess would be that VZW would honor warranty issues on RS phones because customer would really have no other option and I have a feeling that VZW will do the right thing here.

Thats what I'm guessing otherwise I would not consider them. The free Moto for the wife is the key to share accesories. We are already paying an ETF on her phone and have all the Moto accesories already. I am not to thrilled with the "no activation cost statement" The Verizon store said they would waive the activation fee. Perhaps I should go there and use the saved activation fee money for the Moto instead. That sounds like a win win for Veriz...

Don't bother with this guy. He either doesn't get it and never will or he is a complete troll. We told him the same thing over in the Cingular forum and he starts in with "But Verizon is so much better because they will..." yet he asks you the same questions and has the audacity to then challenge your response.

He believes the carriers are 100% responsible for equipment no matter the case.

LOL bitter are we? If you bothered to read the responses from my posts Verizon apparantly will support all customer's phone issues except for warranty issues.

That makes total sense. Unlike your bitter self.

You cannot handle losing another cingular customer can you? You're Wireless Daddy who feeds you is screwing up and you are very bitter. you cannot walk with your head up high claiming to be a Cingular Agent. Your "glory" days were short lived.

Well I know You HAVE to sell Crapular to eat and pay the rent. Whereas I am willing to pay MORE to leave that Carrier and more to have reliable service. Its stinks from your vantage point and you are powerless to do anything but whine in the Cingular forum.

I'd say go there and preach to your choir. No one cares about your plight here.

You are in wherever, I am in Texas. In Texas Cingular has a very good service just like in CA and other areas Verizon has a very good service.

Take all the pot shots you want, it just makes you look foolish. If I was in CA, I would most likely sell Verizon. Since I am in Texas I sell Cingular (Verizon doesn't even offer service in West Texas except El Paso).

Since you are just some Johnny come lately you can't possibly have any logicaly or complete understanding of my position.

Like I said, you make it too easy.

Yeah ok fine. I'm foolish. Now go away. Enjoy Texas and your wonderful Cingular Service.I understand. You are the T-Mobile of Texas, Great I'm very proud of ya. I understand your position.

Defend the indefensible. Happens all the time. And you say Im foolish?

So after trashing Cingular is their forum you come over here with this?

You were in a thread where we told you we don't always support phone purchased from 3rd party vendors.

You are either about to start something here or are just really inattentive.

Go away texaswireless. Cingular is a waste of time and money and so are you. I'm sorry you are not selling as many phones in your Store. I'm finally out of the grips of the terrible Wireless company you represent. Obviously you are very bitter upon representing a company that will so get whipped by no other then Sprint.

Yes I am inquiring about buying at RS. And?
BTW I bought third party GSM phones and Cingular DID support them...always. Its just that their network is terrible. I never complained about their service, or phones. Its actually a shame they have such a terrible network because they do have great phones and their implementation of BT is second to none. But all that becomes moot if one cannot use the phone for it's first in...

You absolutely complained about their phones, or more accurately, there lack of phones to suit your ATTWS needs.

If you post BS I will call you, as I do others, on the lack of facts.

Yes I did and DO! But the lack of OBX and other features are worth making calls that are not dropped 50% of the time. I am willing to suffer those issues in order to make a reliable call. Something I can not do with Cingular despite all the glossy phones.

Ok, I am not saying anything to the contrary. The difference is your complete lack of understanding towards the facts and your options. You are pissed off at certain things (I get why you are upset about coverage) but your other issues were from YOUR lack of understanding of your available options.

You came into the Cingular forum trying to cause commotion (whether by ignorance or intent) and now you don't like it when people smack back with logic. Some others also just smacked back in general and you try to say they represent an ENTIRE company.

That is just plain stupid.

amazon, and wirefly play to many games! i tried it when i was looking get 2 v551's (for free before mail-in) took them 3 weeks to tell me that the deal expired (it's still on the site though) 😕 and then they wanted me to pay $59.99 each so i searched harder same site (wirefly) found it 2 for $59, ordered them and two weeks laker they were still telling me that cingular didn't get back to them with my account and phone numbers!!!!!
so i canceled the order and went to wal-mart to get my phone. my reason is because i knew they wern't on commission like i am so they aren't that pressed about a sell, i could educate them while getting my phone, and it was cheaper and since i worked for cingy before i could work on my phone myself or find one o...

Yeah Im getting that drift. The ETF fees are killing me though on the one phone so Im trying to save as much as possible.

I think the best bet is to go to the Verizon Corp Store and see if they will waive the Act fees so I can use that money to buy the Moto 726 for the wife.

One feature very important to me is he ability to use MP3s for ringtones. I can not stomach the rinky dink midi stuff. with Mp3 I can record my own "Old Bell phone" soound or any real song section. does Verizon have any phones where one can make their own MP3 ringtones?

NO not phones tht can create them. I have them already on my PC. I used them on my Moto Mpx220.

I want to transfer them to the Verizon phone. Be it an E815 or LG8100. Is it possible to transfer them with a cable then assign them to contacts? I know BT will not do it. But maybe I can use the cable.

What is the cost to send my own MP3s to the phone or can it be done through the cable. I thogh Verizon would not allow any ringtones to their phones without a cost?
