Well I have this phone for Alltel which is the Nokia 6255i. I never really used the phone as I am more comfortable with my 710. Well I just now started getting into playing with it and noticed somethings Verizon will not like. Nokia left this phone total open, BT with OBEX, IR. Well I just purchased a 1 gig MMC card and have been watching my movies and listening to my music on this thing. There was a rumor you could only access 512mb of the 1 gig card but thats untrue, you have access to all 1 gig of the memory. Well what Verizon will not like is that I found that you can make full mp3, AAC songs into ringtones. Its pretty nice now to make your own ringtone as there is nothing to do but drag the whole song over to the card and set as ringer....

So what's the latest? Is it still supposed to be available, in whatever configuration, on 10/23? And will the phone actually be AT the Verizon stores, or at secondary dealers, like Best Buy?

Haven't heard anything new... and the fact that call-out cards for it went out to the VZW stores seems to indicate that it will be available there as well as Best Buy (though maybe not at first?).

Cross your fingers and hope the 10/23 release date holds. I would be annoyed if this phone got pushed back any further... I've been waiting to use my upgrade for 3 months now.

While with recent phone releases VZW does have nice alternatives now, I really want to compare them to the 6256i.

Jake, are you still holding strong on the full Bluetooth stack?

I'm still awaiting the release of the 6256i with crossed fingers for uncrippled BT, Russell. So I guess that's a yes.

I never stated they were going to cripple the BT, but I did suggest that with the phone allowing you to use your mp3s on your MMC card as a ringer would be one thing they will try to disable.

corporate will be carrying this phone, it is the new candy bar style phone coming out that will be agent only, not the 2181(can't remember model number cause it didn't impress me) I have had multiple people tell me the bt will be cripled, i know the one demo i played with was because he couldn't connect it to a bt printer but pulled his 6255 out and it worked fine. I hope to god they don't criple the bt but i will beleive when i see it! This phone has been floating around for months and verizon just keeps testing it and my guess is it is taking them awhile to figuere out how to rape it of all it's wonderful features.

No but you did state that in your opinion one of ther easons for the delay on the phone was they were locking bt. I was simply explaining and providing proof that this not the case My apologies for trying to help you

This was your statement and one of your supporting reasons as to why the delay for VZW. To be honest with you I don't really feel like arguing with you about something so trivial. THE PHONE WILL BE FULL OBEX. So that is not one of the reasons for the delay. I really don't care why you "THINK" the ph. is delayed I was only trying to help you assuming that since you were posting in the VZW forum you were either an employee or a customer. Seriously, get a life!

The repeated delays are really getting on my one nerve 😡 I've been waiting to upgrade also. That new Samsung 950 looks pretty good too. I hope this wait is worth it!!!
