How come alot of times when a Verizon customer calls me on my cell phone will it show up as unknown caller? For instance I have my mom programmed into my phone and the good majority of the time she calls me it shows unknown caller? Keep in mind my mom just knows how to dial the numbers and thats it!! She hasnt messed with any features or anything like that AND it did the same thing with her totally different branded phone before AND I have seen others programmed in my phone who call and same thing. What's UP 😕

Caller ID is dependent on the phone service in the area. If it doesnt support Caller ID, it will come up that way.

Yes i know, but cellular service is only cellular from the cell phone to the nearest tower, the rest of the connection is landline.

It cant be anything feature related cause then it would say restricted. It maybe like he said its not supported in your area but thats a rarity. Check if your in an analog area or extended network. Then make sure your phone has the most currect software both the physical software and the prefered roaming list.

WOW The old cure all answer...*228...

The previous post was better stated. Odds are the landline switchboard that the call is being routed through doesn't have caller ID. That is very common around where I live with all the rural phone companies. Some towns still only have one home phone provider and that provider gives them a 5 mile radius for local calling. Then they give 30 minutes to the next area out. And they don't have any other choice. One of the companies (Sprint) went so far as to disallow the Verizon Wireless exchange as being local even though it is listed in the same town. Of course if they port to Sprint, then the number will suddenly be recognized as a "local" number...

Remember back in the early days of cell phones when the phone number that showed up was one on the MITSO's swichboard. (818-444-1111 -1112 or something like that)
