Wow, pretty negative. But VCast, like almost any other major feature offered by any wireless carrier, is ultimately aimed at improving said carriers'bottom line.

I just picked up a phone that can use vcast, and since it's free for the first month I am trying it out.

I've only played with it for a little bit, but it's not bad.

On the go updates on news given to you in video format? Weather reports, sports reports, etc.

Sesame street (and more) for the kids.

Unfortunately the vcast games (which I thought were included in the vcast cost) actually seem to cost money. And I hear that there will be vcast music, but I haven't been able to find that yet.

If anyone else knows what else vcast offers (besides unlimited web) let us know.

I think it hits two primary markets. Clearly, the kids for the kewl factor. Secondly are those people who are away from their homes/desks a lot and may want to pick up CNN, sports scores, etc..

But I also believe a lot of this stuff are predecessors of things to come as technology advances. Think about it. If you have VCast today, how far away are you from when the soccer mom can have a pull down LCD Screen in the mini van (that's obviously been there for awhile) and be able to allow the kids to watch their favorite TV shows through a cell connection? And multi way video conference calls without any limitations held through the cell phone. And many others.

if only that drop down LCD were bluetooth and the 9800 could use it's bluetooth to transfer the data... (except I don't think bluetooth can handle that kind of bandwith yet)

The idea behind the most VCast games, f.i. is that you constantly downloading bits and pieces of the game while you playing it or loading... If you've played the NFS3 on the PC, you have a pretty good idea what the NFS Underground2 looks like you on the cellphone.
