LG (all phones with vx)

vx 3200 (within weeks)

vx 4600 (any day now)

vx 6100 (possibly not coming out)

vx 7000 (phone to look forward to, arriving mid summer after the audiovox cdm 9900)

vx 8000 (off in the future)

Audiovox

cdm 9900 (hopefully by mid to late may.) for those of us dying for a new decent phone we might settle for this because of it's trimode, battery life, and video but 'smarter consumers' might wait for the lg which customers have typically been happier with.

Motorola

v710 (after the LG 7000) better than the v810 with features and will actually probably arrive before the v810

v810 basic motorola camera phone, coming in the game late, not looking to blow anyone away.

Samsung

SCH A 650

I just got off the phone with Verizon Customer service and the guy told me that the New LG VX 4500 (?) came out yesterday. Its currently only available through secondary Verizon sellers (i.e. pretty much only at Radio Shack), not online or at Verizon stores. I'm going to go check it out later this week. But I think I'm still going to wait for the Moto V710.

Whew...thought you deserted us buddy. ;) The 4600 is coming out awfully fast on the heels of the 4500...what are the true differences?

Thanks for all the info---and of course we're interested in hearing more!

I particular, wondering what the LG 4600 and 7000 will be like, and the Mot V710.

Thanks for any info you might have.

by going through all the phones section, for the 4 people, looking up each phone and finding out what service they were for. asking the people at the four companies and kind of compiling a list.

i don't work for verzion or anything i've just been dying to get a new phone that isn't crap... ill make a little blurb or give you the vitals on the phones soon enough

Amazing...all these new phones on the horizon and not one new smartphone among them. I'm glad I went ahead and bought my i600 instead of waiting for something better to come out. It's definitely flawed but it's better than anything else that's available right now.

There is supposed to be a Treo coming out soon too. To be honest with you I see more people who like the Samsung I700 better than the I600.

IMHO, there's no comparison between the i700 and i600. The i700 is an absolute brick - there's no way I would ever carry that thing around. I guess it's ok if you want a PDA first and a cell phone 2nd but I'm exactly the opposite so the i600 is perfect for me.

Audiovox 9900 has been pushed back to June 15, or so reported a fairly reliable, VZW employee.
Hope they didn't sacrifice performance for all the display/video clip /camera, bells and whistles.

Oh please.... give us a Nokia, with the same great performance as the 3595i models, in a flip or at least premium build version.

am I the last guy in America that does not want a phone that folds, slides, swivels or flips? I keep hoping that Verizon will give me at least one new model that's comparable to my QCP3035. A one-piece phone with speakerphone and a color screen. Any chance I'll see that any time soon? Or am I in such a minority of phone preference that I've got to suck it up and be like every other cell-phone lackey with their miniscule postage-stamp sized flip phones.

You are so right, everyone seems to want a folding phone. They ARE cool looking, and you never see anybody on TV using anything but a folding phone.

But think about it.... if you get a call, you have to flip it open to answer instead of just pushing a button (on a candy-bar phonme).

Also, if you are bopping along the highway and want to make a call, you can glace at a candy-bar phone and observe the signal strength, without having to flip it open.

Also no hinge to break or crack on a candy-bar type.

But the folding phones ARE cooler looking, yup.

I think Verizon has gotten into the habit of using only phones with external antennas because of the demand for tri-mode (analog) capability. Maybe with that fading away it won't be such an issue anymore.

It's still infuriating to walk by so many GSM phones without external antennas. Drives me crazy. I really, REALLY want something akin to the Nokia 6600...and if Verizon releases it, it'll have a great big honking external antenna.

Think about it... If you forget to lock the keys or the key lock logic sucks (like my wife's old Samsung) you can accidentally make calls to folks and all they hear is a bunch of rustling.

That's why the new ones have a second display. ;)

Wrong - second to last. I prefer the straight style for the reasons stated previously - ease of use, less moving parts, etc. However, that is clearly not the trend, so it looks like I will become a flip-phone convert when I port away from this Nokia 6360 (ATTWS) (great phone, poor coverage) to Verizon. Holding out for the LG 7000 (with the analog option, hopefully).
