i have worked for verizon as a salesman, tech, and cust service rep in about 4 diff stores. it seem slike every day the customers set new records in human stupidity and ignorance. its even more disturbing to see they are just as dumb when they post on this website, ive checked these forums here and there for a few months and some of the complaints ive read are nothing short of ridiculously stupid. you say us vzw reps are ****y? hmmm i suppose we should be nice to people who come in with an attitude demanding a free phone because we have 'ruined their life' because YOU dropped your phone in the water and we cant get your numbers out. and if you drop your phone, or get it wet dont come into the stores and have the first thing out of your ...

ok well about people asking how to work a phone and everything.. thats what verizon is there for.. some people arent the brightest people in the world but thats what you guys are there for to help them learn this information.. i completely agree with you when you say that people are retarded when they demand for stuff and complain about goin over minutes or watever.. but you got 2 realize that is not every customer.. cuz most of your customers dont even come in and complain when your considering the amount of customers you guys have!

trust me i was in retail and i dealt with a LOT of dumb customers and complainin customers sayin that they would never shop at our store again and demanding things.. i know how rude people can be sooo dont...

you are correct on the dumb workers, or I perfer to call them not highly trained in their profession. There were times I had to tell tech support or CS what to do when they were lost. I remember telling a tech how to fix the customers problem. The tech did not want to listen to me and did everything else then finally did what I said to do and it work. All that time wasted I tell you, sometimes I wonder.

They are even on a NASCAR race car! That makes them viable!

BTW, what was NEXTEL thinking going after a customer base that the stereotypical race fan (credit anyone) in a sales environment that requires good payments. I can understand NASCAR with Beer and Cigarettes...you don't have to make monthly on time payments for that...no, you can let your kid starve because you spent all the money you had for that carton of Winstons and that case of Budweiser...you can't pay your cell bill because after beer and cigarettes you had to buy that tv dinner so your kid can eat. And then wonder why you have to pay deposits to get the service...

Did you know!!!

I was told Verizon will not sponcer a car because they said it was too much money. I heard about this, this year when talking about Nascar, Nextel and Alltel. I think cingular has a car too and sprint.

Verizon can't sponsor a race car, because of Nextel's sponsorship, any wireless carrier not already on a car is locked out. If they drop off and stop sponsoring a car they get locked out also.

Hey now... I love NASCAR, own 2 stores, make 100k a year and can pay my bills on time.

I do agree with you that MANY MANY MANY NASCAR fans fit the description that you described so colorfully, just keep in mind that not ALL of us NASCAR fans are that way. 😉

I've never really understood the popularity of NASCAR...to me, it's just so boring to watch a bunch of good ole boys drive around in a circle for a few hours. ☚ī¸

Offroad racing or LeMans-style road racing, that I get, but NASCAR? No.

Maybe it's like fishing? An excuse to get drunk? 😕

Alright now...

I actually enjoy fishing too.

I'm sure there are plenty of things that you enjoy that I dont get either.

NASCAR is the fastet growing sport in the world, with an average of 250,000 attendees per race.

There is a lot of things I enjoy about NASCAR such as rooting ofr specific drivers (Ricky Rudd) and rooting against others (Dale Jr.).

Now I do not think fishing should be considered a sport, but NASCAR is very demanding.

I recently saw the Dallas Cowboys take a few laps around the track of a NASCAR event, afterwardss they were worn out! They admitted it is much more physically demanding than they thought, they were very impressed at how physically demandng it was.

I really respect you "Jake" so lets not turn...

Hey, I'm not saying it isn't demanding, I'm just saying that, to ME, it's boring. It's one particular point of view, not everyone's.

Take the Tour de France for instance. I love it, and follow it, and it's an incredibly demanding event (even more so than NASCAR or anything else you can probably name outside of ultramarathon events), yet some ppl find it boring because there's no ball involved.

Those ppl don't upset me, because I know that they either "don't get" bicycle racing, or that it's just a personal preference they have. Not everyone is going to like every sport.

I agree.

I dont like watching the "Tour" because im not into it, I only know of 1 rider (the obvious). But im sure the feeling you get same feeling and excitement I do about watching NASCAR, so it is cool that we disagree, like you said, nobody likes everything. 🙂

That is why I used the word "stereotypical". I don't know how many people that came into my store with the "hey, you got that new Dale Jarrett phone?" Me, "Sure, do you have Nextel service yet?" Them, "Service...heck no...I just want the phone...how much for it?" Me, "Well without a rate plan the phone would just make an expensive paper weight." Them, "Paper weight? You mean I can't use it?" Me, "that is what the service...the rate plan...is for." and on and on and on until we get to this point. "Ok, Nextel approved you but will require a 500.00 deposit per line." (I can't even go into how long it then takes to advise why they might need a deposit). Here is the thing. I sold very few of those phones. When they first came out they we...

When you carry this attitude, it will show to the customers. I know that people are demanding. I know that people expect things for free. The old "I am paying you 50 bucks a month for service, give me something for free" attitude is annoying. Look at it this way. A person pays 50 bucks a month for cable. Their TV breaks. Do they say something to the cable company to get a free TV?

But you really have to take a deeeeepppp breath and relax. If you don't like dealing with the public, find a different profession. I have always worked in environments that you deal with customers face to face, and it is the same for different industries. People today want free tickets.

Here is an example. A group of people filed a class action l...

I forgot one thing...remember though. This is your living. This is what pays the bills. And I am sure that for every irate customer, you have two that really appreciate it when you take the time to show them what the need.

That is what keeps me in retail. The number of customers that have brought me lunch, cookies, etc. I just had a customer that went to Korea for a couple weeks and bought me a McNabb jersey! I run into people in Walmart, at gas stations, when I am out at dinner that will say hi to me...given that I see thousands of people a year, I don't remember everyone, but they will remember me! Even by name. My wife is constantly impressed by the number of people that will be walking past our table at a resteraunt and say, ...

ok, try working in CA in some of the valley stores, beverly hills, santa monica etc. 9 out of 10 customers u have to treat like a 7 year old child because thats how they act. if you havent worked in any of the above stores, or a similar store where people have NO LOGIC, and when i say no logic i dont mean a few of the people, i mean 95% of the people who walk through the door, then you dont have a good understanding of where im coming from. they expect to walk in with a piece of equipment, regardless of the condition, no proof of any purchase, and get a refund or an exchange. and this is EVERY CUSTOMER. they come in and expect to get help INSTANTLY, even tho they are here 6 times a week with the same exact questions which we give them t...

seems like we are alike, I too get that from customers I see out in public. I went to a restaurant on valentines expecting a nice quiet dinner but the host set us down next to a couple I sold phones to a while back. They sat there and talked to us until they left. I have ran into customers everywhere in town, some offer me money I decline but some will just leave the money there and walk away. I am not just going to leave money laying there so I take it. I have sold customers phones just like you who remember my name and almost everything about me, some even remembered I was in an accident and when they see me check up on me and some ask me how I am coming along with hooking my car up. I ge them all and thats what makes this business great, ...

oh and ud think this would be obvious to anyone with a brain, but it clearly isnt since i get this at least 15 times a day, VERIZON HAS NO RESPONSIBLITY FOR YOU GOING OVER YOUR MINUTES, MSG ALLOWANCE, DATA ALLOWANCE, OR ANY OTHER USAGE CHARGE YOU INCUR IN YOUR BILL. when you sign up for service we tell you exactly how many minutes you have, how much msging costs when YOU choose not to add a data pack, how high your bill can be when YOU choose to go with pay as you go kb for our pda and pocket pc phones, and that the warranty does not cover YOU dropping, banging, losing, or getting your phone wet. VZW is not responsible for YOUR ignorance.

Can i get this on a sighn and post it in my store 😁

By the way, I used to sell phones at a retailer, and half the time the Sprint rep I call won't let me activate the phone I am trying to sell to a customer because he/she doesn't know what the hell to do. If the Sprint reps are like that to us retailers, then I shudder to think how they treat customers. I give Verizon just a notch above Sprint. At least with Verizon, I never had a rep who didn't know what he/she was doing. And most of them were very polite. Now I know these reps aren't the same as customer service reps, but its gotta be pretty close.

Yeah, I agree that a lot of customers are ignorant, if not both ignorant and dumb. I remember often a customer would bring back a "beat up" Sprint phone, telling me he/she wants to exchange it cuz the of the reception. 9 out of 10 times, in observations and personal experience, that reception is based on the network, and not the phone. Or its because the phone is "beat up"? People seem to take cell phones for granted, and have to be more careful with them. I mean, if I dropped my PS2 from 4 feet up, do you think Sony would take it back? HA!

But one thing I want to say, as a comsumer's point of view when it comes to reading manuals:
- I have to read the cell phone manual.
- I have to read the verizon wireless manual.
- I have to r...
