Upgrading Online

I saw some other threads about this but did not quite get what I was looking for. I'm finally eligible for my NE2 and I want to get the LG 8100. I'm ordering online b/c I would prefer to wait a few days for the phone instead of waiting a few months for the rebate. How long does it normally take to get the phone? If I decide to return the phone can I just take it to a store? I know they can reset my contract back and my NE2 date if i do return it but does my contract get renewed once I order it or do they not do that until I call it in when I get the phone.

Thanks in advance

If you order online--they will fed ex it to your, usually by 2 day express. So if you order it early in the day, you should get it within 2 business days.
If you have to return it, the store usually won't handle it; they want you to mail it back.
If there's a warranty issue, the stores WILL handle it, they just won't accept a return in most cases.
I had the case where I wanted to return a phone I purchased on-line at Verizon. I went into the store, and they called in Verizon-land, and they said I should mail the phone back. You might call your local Verizon-owned store to see what there policy is about returns--it may be diffent than the policy here where I live. But generally, esp. due to the instant price discount rather than the r...

Is the UPC still on the box when they send it to you? Does my contract get renewed when i order it or when i call it in and get it activated?

It should be renewed when you order it I believe.. I may be mistaken. The box should be fully intact when you have it delivered.

Please keep in mind when you order a phone off the internet, that NONE of the authorized VZW retailers will be able to help you. That means you will either have to use customer service for assistance or drive to your closest verizon wireless owned corporate store.

Anybody have a clue what would happen if you tried to rebate it? Meaning cut the UPC code out and mail it in along with a rebate form?

If you order online, there is no rebate. You get the online discount instead. That's the benefit of ordering online. There should also be a return label in the package as well if you need to send the phone back.

But what happens if you send a rebate in anyways? Lets say I cut the top of the box out, fill out a rebate form and send it in?

That's what I was hoping would happen but I didn't just want to say it. But worst case scenario you don't get it back but you only waste $0.37 trying to.

Very true. The more I think about it, I can only find one problem. You have to send in a receipt with the rebate form. You don't really get a receipt with a phone order and I'm sure you wouldn't get the rebate back if you sent in any of the documentation that Verizon sends. The only way it *might* work is if a receipt was fabricated! lol That's not a suggestion.... just a... thought. lol

That's what will keep it from going through. You have to have a receipt showing what you paid for it and if it shows the online discount, it won't go through.

I guess if you had a good fabrication i don't see how they could tell the difference. the UPC code will only tell them what type of phone and maybe what batch it came from.

Well I work for an indirect VZW so a reciept is no problem. I ordered my phone earlier today and even got a friend of mine to give me one of the rebate forms from a corporate store cause they have a different UPC code on the rebates. If it works out I will be sure to let you all know.

Young America is smarter than you think.

They will deny your rebate.

And if VZW is watching here...you might not be working for that indirect anymore...

I wonder if they reserve certain ESN ranges for online orders...the ESN has to fall within certain ranges. Which is why phone purchased elsewhere then from VZW cannot be sold with a VZW rebate. It will not go through.

Actually the reason it wont rebate if you buy it from somewhere else is the UPC is different, as long as the UPC is the saem it WILL work, I know from experience.

No, Im saying that I have ordered phones from other sources than just Verizon and the rebates have worked for the customers, as dealers were allowed to order phones from wherever we want to, on the back of the rebate forms it says "this rebate is valid with UPC numbers xxxxxxxxxxx and xxxxxxxxxxx" as long as the phones I am ordering have one of those UPC codes on them than they will accept it, regardless of where I am ordering them. How is this fraud?

For GWFox,dont act like that dogg! Any good agent should assist that customer as if he/she is his/her own. Thats what you call CUSTOMER SERVICE!It sucks knowing that you lost a sale on-line,but In the long run they mat refer a customer back to you since you were so nice to help them with their phone.Trust me it works! 😉 That same customer came back to me instead off going on-line because she actually had more question concerning her phone after she got it.As to where if she would have come to us and have those same questions answered in the first place. 😎 And yes she did add a line waited for the rebates in the mail and has a free car charger!

I give customers one free bite. I still help them but explain how we as agents are compensated. Now if that person still adds a line again online...all bets are off. Example:

I had a customer who bought his phone via telesales. He had problems and it needed to go to a technitian (30 miles away). The customer uses the phone for business purposes. He had some business waiting and could not take the phone to the retail store but needed help immediately. I did the above listed...explained how we get paid, and that I would help him but he would send people my way/buy future phones from me/add on...etc. I then provided him with a loaner phone, drove that 30 miles myself (I do this everyday anyway, I live near the retail store) and took c...
