Charge for Cust Service

Since the start of the month Verizon has begun to charge in-stores for many customer service tasks. If you go into a Verizon store, you will find that there will be a $15 processing fee for all ESN changes, phone upgrades (excluding New Every 2 upgrades), and telephone number changes. In addition, there will be a $10 fee for all phonebook transfers. However, the full extent of these changes is starting to take effect. Now, these terms will also apply to telephone customer service. Thankfully, Verizon does fully support an Online ESN Change system that allows customers to switch phones online at not charge. In addition, Verizon customers are having difficulty changing VCast phones to non-VCast phones online, being informed they must call cust...

verizon keeps on adding these fees and charges here and there, and raising rates, and taking things away such as holiday minutes, this record high customer adds and record low churn rate wont last, it may be a one time deal.

what i keep laughing at is that everybody wants everything for free. somehow the company has to pay us to sit there and do your ESN changes and phone book transfers. Technically, we're supposed to charge the ESN change fee for every one year upgrade and charge the phone book transfer fee for everybody except warranty and insurance replacements. Me personally, I would GLADLY pay for the phone book transfer so I wouldn't have to do it all over again myself. But I guess thats just me.

There may be someone will do it better and cheaper, but, who is going to pay $175.00, or, for 6 phones $1050.00 for a contract termination... I also heard every time you take a sh!t, verizon is going to extend your contract... That in addtion to the $5.00 customer service fee that is going to be implemented in November...

What do you mean extending you contract everytime you take a sh!t, only time your contract is extended is when you move to a promotional plan or do your 2 year upgrade.

This has been the "policy" for a long time now, its just that most of the time these fees are waived, dont read too much into it.

Also as far as the transfer of the phonebook goes I dont blame them at all, outr cost on each device that changes the numbers are about $800, I cant afford to carry them in my stores and not charge customers for them, plus I dont want to charge people to change the numbers, so Im stuck between a rock and a hard place, if I dont have it people get mad because I cant change the numbers, If I do carry it and charge people than they get ticked because of that, damned if I do damned if I dont

I dont disagree with the phonbook transfer, I pay for it myself, it is worth the extra money not to have to go home and retype everything. What I disagree on is when they charge you to do it when getting a new phone, expecially under contract, they used to do it free under that condition, and I think it is a nice PR deal to do that.

Also, for those people that swap phones all the time, I have seen programs at Best Buy, that provides cables and programming to do the transfers yourself. It is called Datapilot cell phone data transfer suite universal kit. It is $79.99. Eight transfers pays for that program, says has cables, and usb adapters for 150 or more phones. I will provide the link, for those of you behind a firewal, just goto be...

well of course you can, and give verizon some more money. That is why they disable a lot of the Blue Tooth services offered on the phones, they want you to pay them more money.

If verizon could figure a way how to use get it now for headsets, they would disable the blue tooth headset feature also. There is only one reason that you can use blue tooth headsets on the 8100, and that is because verizon can not think of a way to get extra money from people on that feature.

i'm agreeing with you. verizon is in the business to make money and keep customers which they manage to do despite giving free rein to their customers. plus there is always a way around things.

I wont post the same thing in my second post. But, to my answer about a company wanting to make money, I have no problem with that. Just dont offer products that you are going to not allow the full use of anyway. That is what I am saying, it is dumb to offer a product, then cut most of it out so you can offer it a different way to make money on it, dont offer that product in the first place, then your company doesnt look like dumb*****.

Verizon makes money every quarter for the last 15 years. What other wireless company can say that? I think they know what's going on.

The only reason things are the way they are and that bluetooth is crippled is because of the contract with the get it now company. They won't allow things such as this.

How about Nextel that provides the software for free on their website and then all you have to do is purchase a 20.00 data cable...phonebook transfers are free then!

Should verizon wireless charge you for lack of information?

A. ESN Changes are free if you call customer service with an average speed of answer of less then 30 seconds most of the day.

B. $15.00 Proccessing fee for an Upgrade? Never heard of it and is also free if you call customer service.

C. V-Cast to Non-VCast can only be done by customer service for free since the feature will not leave your account automatically and to guarantee you, the customer, will not be charged for it we kindly ask you to call customer service which is a free call.

Even the Agent stores can't do the ESN change from a non v-cast to v-cast or the other way around. It will fail saying incompatible feature and we much call and either get the feature added or removed or have them do the ESN change. It isn't some plan to get you.

there's always been a charge for phonebook transfers. there is no charge for mobile number changes unless the customer exceeds the one thats allowed. who needs to change their number that many times anyway?
and its not for ALL esn changes. stolen/lost/insurance equipment is not charged and if cust if purchasing a new phone @ full retail they are also not charged. it serves to basically get rid of annoying customers doing EARLY upgrades or changing their esn on the phone or in the store when they can simply do it online. i agree with the charge. go for it verizon
