Verizon gave me upgrade early

I am looking for some opinions on phones and what to do. I have the Droid X2 now (long story on that)and I like it just fine. Should I hold out for an upcoming phone or pickup a Bionic or some other phone now? I also like HTC phones, but both DINC 1 & 2 had poor signal strength. Is the Thunderbolt better in this regard? Give some ideas guys.

Thanks,
Chad

Motorola has screwed up a bunch of times over the years, but one thing they've consistently done well is antenna design. If you are in marginal coverage areas (or are just anal and like seeing 5 bars...) than stick with Motorola.

That said, the difference between the Droid X2 and the Bionic is the front facing camera and the LTE r...

How would you say Samsung rates with signal strength? I have the Droid Charge.

Jay if you read on Verizon's website the actual users of the Charge commented quite a few times that the signal strength was good. I have no personal experience with the phone.

Glad to hear that! Strong signal means faster speed, and speed is what it's all about.

You have to remember that users are predominantly reporting voice quality. Voice traffic runs on the 2G-grade network while data traffic runs on the new LTE network (where available).

So- take it with a grain of salt. I have not been impressed at all with the antenna performance on my Samsung Fascinate. My wife's Droid X works fine in my master bedroom and in my basement, 3G all day long.

My Fascinate drops to 1X more than 90% of the time in those two places. My original handset did it, and the warranty replacement I'm rocking now does it.

Oh, and I hate AMOLED screens. I want white, not bl...

Sorry I should have been more detailed with my reply. Yes I like having the newest phone out so to speak, but 3 things matter the most. Battery life (but I have NO problem having a thicker phone with an extended battery), voice quality (signal strength, call quality, etc), finally just a higher end phone (nice screen, quick, and powerful). I know I don't ask for that much right 🙂. I'm not in a marginal signal area and I love HTC's sense interface, but the their phones just don't seem to hold signal well as of late.

I don't really "need" to use this upgrade, but I wanted to know what's on the herizon so to speak and if there's anything worth upgrading to now.

Thanks again.

You sound like the type that should wait 6 weeks to see if the Bionic lives up to the hype, then make a decision.

No need to take the risk of being an early adopter and getting hosed if you're happy with the handset you have right now, IMO.
