Robust calendar app

I am looking for smartphones for Verizon's network thta has a calendar application that allows you to create an event with option to have a reminder at least one week in advance. Most only allow one hour or 2 hours. I am spoiled by the Blackberry. But, it does not make sense for me to have an hour reminder if my phone is not always in my hand. Also, reminders help you plan and prepary for the event more efficiently.

Every single Android smartphone does this. The Gmail Calendar app is pre-installed on all of them.

Which phone is too big and heavy?

Android comes in many different shapes and sizes now.

Windows Phone 7 which will do it as well since it shares the same functionality as MS Outlook.

Not sure about Palm but I would steer clear of them in the first place.

Dumb phones can typically do it if you download a third party app which of course will cost extra.

This is mostly true, but I have an issue with this on my Fascinate. Mileage will vary depending on which android you get. On my Fascinate, I have very little control over the reminder settings, but I can login to Google Calendar on the web and make all sorts of weird changes, and those notification changes sync to thud phone fine!

My wife's Droid X doesn't gave that quirk. I blame TouchWiz.

I use a third party calendar app called Jorte that allows me to make nonstandard calendar alerts from the handhrld, but it's prone to force closing.

Good point. Sadly Samsung seems to take away some good core functionality of Android with Touch Wiz.

I hope they start taking the approach they took to the Galaxy Tab by just adding features rather than changing the entire look and feel of the device.

Motorola seems to do well lately building "Moto Blur" into the background while keeping the OS nearly stock.

I'm using the DINC1; love this phone but only use the preinstalled calendar which has been just fine so far. What I would love to have is a calendar app that would allow you to see your edits on the calendar as you would see them on a wall calendar.
Anybody got any ideas, I've looked at a lot of them in the app market but so far no good.
