verizon reception suffering???

spitfirenj

so is anyone else having trouble with Verizon reception?

My display will show full signal yet incoming calls go to voicemail without the phone ever ringing. This only happens sporadically. No real rhyme or reason. Then i'll get a voicemail notification some time after.

after speaking with a number of friends and co-workers, i've found that quite a few people are running into the same situation. we don't have the same phone. the only common factor is that we're all based out of new jersey (friends are in north jersey, i'm in central jersey). this began happening approx 2 months ago and has been steadily sporadic ever since.

the only reason why i've stuck with Verizon is because of the great reception. the phones suck compared...

also remember MOST missed/dropped calls come from high network usage so you will notice mon-fri between 4-6pm you will get more missed calls and dropped calls...also turnign your phone off and on once a day helps a lot as well

I'm in Athens GA. I'm getting the same problem. I signed on with Verizon willing to pay the expense for the service quailty. I'm seriously considering changing services. I'm just a student and I'm not willing to pay more for less or equal quailty.

i've done that. I've also taken out the battery to let the power cycle thingy go. i spoke with CS over the phone and they told me to try that (again). I figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt so tonight while i was out making deliveries (UGA campus) my reception was horrible and i couldn't hear them well enough to understand what they were saying.

I really want to get out now. The CS said i should take it to a tech support person at the store. Anyone think this is worth doing? I don't mind staying as long as i get the service that i assumed i was going to be getting (no dropped called and good reception during calls), but every time i pay my bill i can't help but think that i should haven't to pay that much especialy since i'm no...

The question is how often do you turn your phone off? It has nothing to do with a PRL update but you need to power cycle your phone at least once I day. But I dont follow that either but atleast do it once a week. If not it can effect your phone. Try that and see what happens. I sometimes did that and would get messages that was dated like the following date. Once it kept doing what your phone was doing but I let it go on for a while. Called into customer service and they told me to power cycle the phone every now and then. When I did that I got voicemails that were dated two weeks ago. I got hit with 12 new voice mails that my inbox did not recognize until I did that. And to think I called all my friends liars when they said they called me ...

Dont just power cyle it, do a "hard reset" leave the phone turned on, take the battery out and leave it out for about 20 seconds than put it back in and turn it on

Same here. Any VZW phone will not lose memory when the battery is taken out. I have been with VZW for 4 years and I have not had this happen to me once since I have been here

I live in Chicago, and have been experiencing no problems where the incoming calls go to voicemail, even while traveling. Last time I had that problem was in 2001 at the Newark airport. I called Verizon support, and they suggested increasing the number of rings before voicemail picks up, to give more time for the phone to connect. I've never had that problem since.

And the reception quality has improved a lot too in the last several years. I used to have problems whenever I drove past downtown Chicago, or was in dowtown, with lots of interference on the line. That problem has has gone away too. Verizon's service and phone reception quality has noticeably improved in the last 3 or or 4 years. That could be just the result of better...

I've never had any problems in Chicago either. I usually travel to Chicago most Saturdays & some Sundays. Even when traveling through the heart of Downtown Chicago, reception has held up for me. Even going to Milwaukee Wisconsin has been good for me, and Milwaukee is a PCS only market, and my phone usually holds onto a good Verizon signal, and rarely roams on USCC. The only time I had problems with Verizon Wireless was when i owned a Kyocera 2235 phone. That phone didn't always ring, & would go directly to voicemail, then the phone wouldn't always let me know I had voicemail either, especially if I was outside of my home calling area (SID 20, Chicago market)

Hmmm...well a hard, or master reset SHOULD only restore factory settings on the phone if I'm not mistaken. I've seen in a couple cases where ringtones, wallpapers that have been downloaded can be erased, but not a whole lot. Unless the phone has flash memory, which most of them do not, then there might be something wrong with the phone if it's losing memory like that, which could also be an indicator of another problem. Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong about that in a vzw phone, but from what I understand, regardless of carrier, that aspect of a cell phone is pretty much universal...

The phone book and settingsd are stored on your hard drive of the phone, pulling the battery out will NOT reset everything, I 100% gurantee it 🙄

It does not lose all your setting. everything is stored in the phone not the battery. Taking off the battery while it's on will NOT hurt it unless you have a smart phone

I've had the same problem off & on for about 3 years. They've told me it's because my phone was out of it's home region. I'm on the America's Choice Nationwide plan. When I had a Dallas, TX area code and I was in Florida, Louisiana, and Virginia, it sometimes wouldn't ring and I'd get voicemail alerts.

Customer service made me dial *18. It's what they called "Follow Me" and is basically a way for the phone to notify the network where it was. I'd do that and it would work until I power cycled the phone to switch batteries and I'd have to do it again.

My problem lately is that now I only get service indoors if my antenna is pulled out in locations where I used to have good reception. Go figure. Updating the PRL doesn't make a diff...

In Dallas, Verizon is an A-side carrier. If you are usually in Dallas and travel out of the area, you would need to switch your phone to automatic B. This option is under System Select or Roam Option in every phone.

*18 was made for analog phones, it doesnt work with digital phones, i know because i have tried it out a couple of times for a customer with a digital phone and it doesnt change the channel on your phone, with your house, check to see if you have aluminum siding, because i found out it makes it hard for a tower to see you, and here a funny one, i called national tech support the other day because a customer isnt getting any calls in his house, any they told me that service is never garunteed in your home, bad typo's i know, never said i could spell...but figured i would let you know about *18

first thing make sure you *228 option 1 once a month, and *228 option 1 every couple of months, it resets the phone if your wondering, and you should make sure that call forwarding isnt on *72 to activate call forwarding and *73 to turn it off, also make sure that someone didnt backdoor your voicemail, you can acually do that from your own voicemail, heres how, you call your voicemail check your messages, then your gunna hear do u wanna leave a message for another voice mail, where you enter in someone else's number and get sent directly to their voicemail....hope this helps some

ohh i also forgot to add about network congestion, if you are not getting calls at the peak time of day say 5 or 6 pm, its because there are hundreds if not thousands of people on at the same time, so that can also play a factor into you not getting you calls
