Worst case, you would see a charge for two months service immediately adjacent to a on month service credit- billing for only one month.
Now, a data plan change, say from Blackberry to Android, may look like two months in advance to some, but it's not. If you upgraded from a Blackberry to a Droid in the middle of your bill cycle - which you've already been billed in advance for - you get a credit of half a month. Since you were billed in advance (for the month you were already using), they have to credit you in retrospect when you don't finish the month out on the plan you were billed for.
