Since no official launch date was ever announced, "pushed back" implies that one of the many dates that have been floating around for two months was correct.

From an official stance, you can't push back a launch date when you haven't even announced a launch date.

I'm confident that Verizon intended to have the phone out already, but I can't help but point out that Verizon gave themselves the window of "sometime before the middle of 2011" to get it out. As far as the only official comment on it's release, they're still ahead of the middle of 2011.

I'm guessing that it was pushed back to work out some kind of a kink that they found with LTE. Possibly another hand-off issue like they had with the web sticks when they launched them. I could be wrong. Just my personal guess. Either that or it could be a problem with the hardware. I hope that its just software related, if there is a problem with the phone, a hardware issue with their first LTE phone would not be a good start. I really like the looks of that phone too, it may be my next phone. I'm personally waiting until at least the Droid Bionic, LG Revolution, and the HTC Thunderbolt are out to make my decision though. I may wait till all 4 of the announced phones are out. The LTE Galaxy S looks like it could be a great choice too.

Again, the most logical answer might be that we're all off-base and the phone is still on it's scheduled launch date. Sure, we have a lot of reasons to assume otherwise, but with no actual and official date announced, who knows if there's a problem or if everything is perfectly fine.

You are absolutely correct, there may not be any problems at all. I did read an article on engadget last night that implied that a delay may have something to do with horrible battery life. The article stated that some testers have only gotten 2-3 hours on a full charge and that there is an update already in the works to address this issue along with a poor signal strength issue. Engadget is generally a pretty reliable source but this could be speculation as you stated. I just wanted to pass the information on to fellow PS users, who don't have access to other web sites while at work. They didn't say whether these were widespread issues that testers are having or if it is only in certain markets or only certain phones.

I would say that t...

I haven't seen a phone that runs the Sense UI that has decent battery life out of the box yet. I know that you can tweak phones with Sense to have 'better' battery life, but out of the box its pretty miserable.

Honestly with my experience with 2 Erises they both had great battery life out of the box. After the first couple initial charges I would get about a 1.5 days, my girlfriend would get about 2 days out of hers. This is with NO wifi usage, in a fairly poor coverage area, around 200+ text messages a day, syncing my gmail acount and 2 other pop3 accounts every 15 minutes, as well as plenty of web/market/facebook browsing. If you ask me, that is great battery life for any smart phone. I don't know why some people have problems and I dont seem to. My battery life now that I have rooted and gone to KaosFroyo (Non-sense based) OC'ed to 768mhz actually hasn't improved. When I was using SenseAble (an obviously Sense based ROM,) with the battery tweak ...

Maybe my experience isn't typical, but my Incredible lasts from 7AM to 11PM with regular use just fine. A friend gave me his old extended battery and now I get two days most days. The only things which have caused shorter battery periods have been apps that seem to cause the battery to run down faster. Every week I do a battery pull to clear out those scenarios.

Well I have no experience with the Incredible but I know that it is not uncommon for apps to remain running and for that to drain your battery faster than usual with any android phone. A couple things you can do to avoid this are 1.) exit out of apps using the back button instead of using the home button. Home usually leaves the app running while back will usually kill the app. 2.) You can manually kill apps in the applications section of the android menu. I advise against task killers for most people because they can cause problems for a lot of people.

Otherwise your method of the battery pull works just fine.

I don't intend to be rude here, but not only have I been in the wireless business for nearly eight years, I own and operate PhoneCan.com, one of the first sites covering issues like task killer ineffectiveness. I don't really need the lesson on Android phones. If you intended this toward other readers, I would word your response differently.

Oh sorry man. Didn't mean to be condescending at all. Just trying to be helpful. I know plenty of people that work in the wireless industry that don't really know crap about phones. As for owning and operating PhoneCan.com, I didn't know about that. Thanks for your contribution to the industry.
