I hope I am not mistaken when I answer this but I believe that the current CDMA technology will not allow you to talk and surf. I am almost certain that when you make a phone call, it locks the data channel. your best bet is to get a rep on here to either tell you straight or confirm what I said.

If the iPhone comes in a 4G flavor, then it would be possible.

Then whats the point really? 3G has always been that way and yeah the iPhone would be welcome with open arms I'm sure but truthfully to be honest in my opinion the phone is as good as crippled unless it was released on the 4G LTE that will allow simulataneous usage of both.

Just sayin

the point is that VZW will eventually have the iphone and people will still buy it because its america's biggest cellular market and its better than ATT

It's not like iPhone's track record screams cutting edge features and compatibility. Releasing a 3G CDMA iPhone that can't browse the web over 3G while you're on the phone is not too far off from the device's four-year reputation.

The iPhone is about selling it this year, as well as next year, not necessarily about longevity or long-term relevance.

I think it's more about making a buck 🤣
In the end Vz and Apple are in business to make money not give us a swell deal and there was just money on the table to not do this. It was a "business decision" (that always means money drove it).
