Big question following my little blurb
Scenario - contract upgrade comes in this coming March. If I talk to the right rep, I might be LUCKY enough to get an early upgrade if I wanted to upgrade somewhere in Jan.
Question - If I am able to finagle an early upgrade with my rather fascinating negotiating skills, would the "soon to be coming HTC Thunderbolt" - from Engadget.com" worth the early upgrade? Or should I wait with the assumption something better will be available by March?
If this new phone is going to be anything like the HTC Evo, then hell yes.
Just food for thought, I am rocking the Droid Eris right now - rooted... and still sucks worse than a herpes break out on a first date. I could seriously light this phone on fi...

The thunderbolt might not come out until march for all we know.
and it's going to be one of the high tier devices. The eris at launch was running nearly 2 year old hardware (it is basically similar internals to the g1)

so I assume that waiting until Mar would be probably the best bet. I know whats out now and I am not excited about any device. I am not a fan of any of the Moto phones out... Samsung... haha right... HTC is the only one with a solid solid phone but they do not have a large screen phone for VZW yet.
unless the liePhone comes to the big red... then maybe if the stars align and the snow magically melts, i might wait for that.

All the Motorola Android devices are actually very very solid phones. I've not been a huge Motorola fan, but their Android devices are my favorite. None of the Androids out now, including the Incredible are anywhere close to performing like the Eris did. That thing is a POS. These devices today are a night and day difference.

i definitely cannot wait to get rid of this stupid phone. worst ever. i will be intrigued to see what comes out in the next couple months

The Eris was something of an "ooh, me too!" for HTC, riding on the coatails of the original Droid. It was decent, but not suitable for many users. The Incredible was the phone that HTC SHOULD have released along side the Droid. The Eris was always intended to be the understudy model (and was promoted/priced accordingly).
Just don't count HTC out of the game. I've had my Incredible since launch, and I love it. The only thing I'll replace it with is the Incredible HD (or whatever it will be called). Don't let the Eris be your only HTC + Android experience.

It never would. I've played around with other android devices and love the OS. I'm just stuck with this damn thing. I should have just got the droid. Sometimes saving a few $$ isn't the best option.

So you think the HTC Eris blows the Motorola Droid 2 Global away? I've been thinking about trading in my BB Storm for the Global 2 but thought I'd wait until the CES show to know what should be coming up.

Since Verizon's CES announcement is in five days, I'd wait to see if there's anything to wait for.

Any word about Windows Phone 7 coming to Verizon? Don't know that you would consider it, but the reviews have been pretty good.

Rumor is there might be something announced this week, but I'm not holding my breath.
Of all the benefits for LTE, the one thing I'm looking forward to the most is the potential (years from now) of having access to devices sooner rather than later.

The only replacement for me will be the Incredible HD, or whatever it ends up being called.

I must say I agree completly; after having BB's for almost 4 years I finally upgraded when Best Buy had the DINC for free and I won't be looking back until RIM comes out with their QNX phones. I absolutely love this phone!!!
