Any New BB's comin to Verizon

Why is it that Verizon never gets the latest BB's like AT&T? Any work on Verizon getting a version of the Torch in the coming months. I love BB and am due for an upgrade but am holding off to see if anything new is coming out. Want the Torch for Verizon, if not I would have to get the Bold. Hoping for good news.

At this point I'd say the Blackberry outlook is very bleek. Who would want one? I hardly ever sell any Blackberry's anymore. Everyone wants a Droid.... you can do SOOO much more... much better web browsing, and a ton more apps. I saw a recent report that Blackberry's accounted for like 80 some percent of all smartphones sold on Verizon a year ago, now they are under 20%. Blackberry better step it up or they will be out of the game.

Obviously, the OP wants one or were you not paying attention? There are plenty of people out there loyal to RIM. I would go with a Torch myself if they had one for Verizon. Droids are cool, but let's not get carried away with ourselves.

Verizon has/had the exclusive on the Storm and Storm 2. Who knows why RIM decided to go to AT&T with the Torch considering AT&T hangs off Apple's sack?

I understand that you are used to the BB, but as many have said, it's on its way out, and Androids are more fun. You might take a look at the Droid Pro. All of the positives of BB, and just more fun!

Blackberries will never be "out". They had one of their best quarters ever last quarter and should have a solid 2011 with the BB Playbook arriving.

Droid is taking over in the consumer space, but the business world still runs on blackberries and that business is secure for the time being.

BB will always be around and available. Just might get overshawdowed by other offerings in the coming years.

WHAT!!

I would trade my Droid in for all touchscreen blackberry tomorrow if one came out.

My Droid is awesome... but the email is not up to par. The sync sucks, drains battery, gives me errors, search function and folder layout is a pain.

Android is more fun, and the phone is solid, but the email still needs some serious loving before it reaches the level of BB

The reason I say almost obsolete is because they are making no new advances. BB is BB. The Storm and the Storm 2 are touch screen BBs, but their OS is outdated. While business may be done on BBs, the industry is changing. The longer Android has, or anybody else, unless RIM starts to make some changes, business will be done elsewhere.

They are making new phones with a new OS. They just have not made one for Verizon...yet.

The author has some pretty legitimate points about the failure of RIM to keep up with the rest of the smartphone business.

I see no one really answered your question. Mostly it was a bunch of people saying why BB is going to fail...Well I am a berry user as well, and BB isn't going anywhere and they are still a very powerful company.

There are no immediate upcoming devices slated for vzw. I don't think you will see a cdma version of the torch anytime soon either. But I wouldnt be shocked if verizon got a version of the BB Style, that would be a much easier transition for RIM.

I have seen some leaked photos of an all touchscreen device with a trackpad(storm 3?). But nothing has been confirmed.

Here is my guess of what you will see next from RIM on verizon: BB Style, Storm 3, Updated Bold

Just my 2 cents, hope this helps!

I agree... people seem to forget that there are still people that prefer Blackberry. And to take the OP question as an opening to disparage a product they sell is not helpful at all. Don't get me wrong, it's OK to offer alternatives, but at least do so in a non-negative manner such as "Why do you want Blackberry, it's dieing."

Yeah, its ridiculous. Blackberry will be around for years to come. And with the QNX operating system and dual core processors, the future is definitely bright for RIM.

Lets just hope they can product some exciting hardware!

Hey Chris, thanks for your honest reply. Yes my wife & I have used BB's for some time. Was waiting until after the first to upgrade. The closest SP is the Droid Pro which has the keyboard below the screen. We will demo that one as well as the Bold by VZW. I just think that the browser / internet search is not that great or fast with BB's as they are with the Droids. Kind of want the best of both worlds. We don't do a lot of internet but it's nice to have when you need info fast. Thanks again for your 2 cents.

The Droid Pro is a nice phone and the keyboard is very easy to get used to. Im still using my BB Bold 9650, but the Droid Pro has definitely caught my eye.

I wish Blackberry would STOP doing exclusivity deals with these carriers. It frustrates customers and hurts their market penetration.

Good luck with your choice!

Take it for what you will, I've also read rumors that RIM killed the Storm 3.
But I'd guess they're waiting until the roll out of OS 6 officially, they maybe waiting for app developers to catch up with the new OS.

Um...Blackberry never lost its spot. They were never a big hit with consumers. As long as they can boast of being completely secure (except in the UAE, I suppose) then politicians, criminals and businessmen (excuse the redundancy) will continue to favor Blackberries over other devices.

With the advent of the iPad & tablet coupled with RIM's new OS 6, I've been kicking around the idea of going back to a Blacberry rather that a iPhone or Android.

I so want to stay with BB. The email system & BBM is really very good. I need that on a daily basis. Can get apps like XM & sports, not one for a lot of browsing throughout the day but sometimes I need to get on. Hopefully with OS6 the web browsing and flash willo be better. Especially websites that have audio on them that yu need to hear. Will wait to mid Jan to see what is around. Option #2 will be BB Bold unless I am blown away with something else.

Yeah. I really liked my 8330 and Blackberry Messenger. If I still worked in wireless, I would still have a Blackberry but with one line already dedicated to tethering I just couldn't justify two data plans.

As usual, I have to agree with Chris. BlackBerry is second to none in the business arena with BES, BBM and data handling. I know they lack the "cool" factor and apps of Android and iPhone, but they work - which is what I want a phone to do. I don't stream video, watch TV or movies or use my BB as a GPS. For me it's a phone, email portal, calendar, contact manager and BBM device. It synchs perfectly with Outlook and I don't have to worry about my data and personal info being subject to Google's leaky security. I back up to my computer and I can restore or change a BlackBerry in about 10 mins. Not being a touchscreen fan, I don't spend a lot of time worrying about the physical keyboard on my Bold. Having said all that, I would like to see OS 6...

I agree with you and the more I read the comments & reviews about BB, the more I am leaning towards getting another. As like you, my wife and I use our BB's for the email (which is great), Outlook(address book & calendar) & BBM. A little web browsing for general info. I have tried the touch screens and all the bells and whistles that come with the Droid's & iPhone but I just don't have the time to do all of that. Plus I find the touch screen to be very sensitive. Just want to get apps like XM radio, my sports scores, weather and a few other informational apps. Thanks for all your feedback in this forum, everyone has been very helpful. Will do something after the first of the year. Have a great holiday.

OH no would never change from Verizon. Have been with them for many many years. No other service like it. Would go for the BOLD 9650. I have friends that have AT&T and I constantly loose their calls. Staying with VZW.
