I was thinking of getting a Droid, However someone mentioned that they can get free wifi on a IPhone in the app market? And then someone told me you can get it on the Droid too in the droid marketplace? Is this true. I just want to connect to a laptop for a bit when I am out of town to pay bills. What is it called in the droid mkt?

You can use the droid as a hot spot but you WILL pay for the data usage.

Officially, you can pay for the WiFi hotspot through Verizon for $20/mo. You can turn it on and off and pay for the months you have it, or just leave it on and pay for it every month.

Unoficially, there are a few apps that will allow you to tether the phone to your laptop to share data. Not sure about WiFi, but there may be something out there. I use something called PDANet that requires the cable, which I almost always have on me anyway.

Be aware, though, that if Verizon figures out what you're doing, they could call you and ask you to stop. If you don't, there's a slew of things they can do. This kind of thing violates the terms and conditions of your contract.
