A friend is thinking about either the Droid 2 or the Droid X . I have explained my thoughts about both phones to her. She would like some thoughts from other people.

I could go into a bunch of details about specs and how the X has the D2 beat on paper, but the single biggest "real life" difference between the two is the physical keyboard on the D2. Your friend would have to decide if she wants that or not. Some people love physical keyboards. Personally, I don't. They make the phone thicker and heavier. The virtual keyboard on my X is outstanding and I have a thinner, lighter phone because of it. There are other differences between the two phones, but that's the biggest. It really comes down to personal preference.

2 has keyboard x has swype. I think x is much better and I have the droid and never use the key board. You turn it and use the touch pad and its great. Plus 4.3 inch screen is nice. there is really no comparison unless you want a keyboard!

I personally thought the Droid X was too big, so I went with the Droid 2. The Droid 2's screen size is perfect, IMO. It's also the thinnest (if not one of the thinnest) phones with a hard qwerty so its size shouldn't matter. It DOES feel heavy though, so if she carries her phone in her pocket it may take some getting used to. For me, my phone is always in my bag so it doesn't matter.

It really comes down to having a keyboard (which to me is important) or having a 4.3" screen. The difference between a 3.7" and a 4.3" is a lot more than it seems, just have her go into a Verizon store to compare. If she doesn't mind touchscreen only, I'd go with the Incredible (though to me, the back of the phone is ugly).

This is why Verizon needs to allow Saygus to FINALLY launch the Vphone. Keyboard and video messaging and MiFi capabilities.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one on Phone Scoop who thinks a 4.3in screen on a cellphone is way, way too big.

Though I might be willing to go with the 4in that is on the Samsung Epic 4G, that's one heck of a smartphone!

Its def not "way" to big. I love the screen size. I just got a droid X to replace my incredible and I really like the additional size. There are way more positives than negatives IMO.

Chris,

So you have had both the phones I am debating getting.

What are the differences? Have you notice a big battery difference? How about signal? Any other thoughts?

Thanks for any feedback! 🙂

Hey Cwcanty. I haven't seen much from you on here in a while. Last I heard, we both still had the Storm2 with sticky buttons. I also got the Droid X. I was loving it until the bottom of my screen stopped working. It feels like someone put me on punishment now that I had to reactivate my storm2 waiting for my x replacement. Hope all is well man.
