Best phone for Verizon?

Kendallish

Apr 3, 2010, 1:28 PM
What is the best phone right now that Verizon carries? I know everyone is talking about Verizon getting the IPHONE (which I'd love to have), but currently I have the STORM 2 and just cannot deal with the touch screen keypad. My son just got the DROID and so far, so good. He says the keypad took a little getting used to but he is used to it after only a week. I've had the storm 2 for 6 months!

SO, if you could give me your opinion on what the best device is for Verizon at the moment, I'd appreciate it! THANKS!

Wait till htc Driod (with dope processor) model comes out. Rumors say the "Invincible" is just around the corner.

I still can't stand Motorola's, or I might say Droid.

I hate calling them. It is as fun as the dentist.

Im really not sure what the hell this guy's talking about.. From the broken English to the lack of knowledge.

It would be the HTC Nexus you are talking and and the HTC Incredible. Don't really know what this has to do with Motorola, or calling droid/motorola/htc/etc.

Nice over use of paragraphs though.

@the op: no one is best, The best phone is the phone that suit's YOU. Asking people their opinion of the best phone will only land you in the same position you are currently in. Do some research on different site's, and go to the store and get a feel for them.. The phone that feels the most natural will be the easiest to get use to.

I'm afraid he has more tenure then I do. But I am right and he is wrong. Motorola is effing junk. They came out with the droid. Whoopy! Have you ever called them for ANY support? I guess my hatred is embedded.

Jay, your opinion is worth more to me than anybody that works for the industry. You are my customer. What do you think about the Motorola Droid? What do you carry now, and why? What are you looking for? What is it that you are considering now?

Your probably gonna hit me over the head when I tell you this, but I'm actually posting right now using the Droid!!! Yeah, that's right, I've had the Droid since 3/23. I like it a lot, it feels very solid in it's build. I have no complaints reguarding the keyboard as many do.

And with reguards to calling Motorola for support, well fellow Phone Scooper (and Droid owner) Menno has been my support. Prior to actually taking the plung and getting the Droid I asked him all sorts of ?'s. I ended up getting my Droid for !!ONLY!! $20 dollars on the letstalk.com website, + $15 for overnight shipping, and guess what, my 58y/o mother got a Droid also, and she likes it a lot.

As you may know, I am also new to Vzn I ported both my #'s over from ATT...

Your output is more valuable then most. I hold Menno on a pedistal when it comes to backing up the product that I sell. At the end of the day, what you think is what matters. I guess I m on the middle of the fence with the Moto droid. So far so good, but I can afford to wait.

Your opinion is what matters though. I hope that VZW never forgets that.

After talking to Menno and asking him if he thinks if I stand a chance of getting my first bill of a whopping $236 lowered and getting the activation charges waived, he encouraged me to call customer service, and I did, and I got one of the activation charges waived, but the 2nd one required a supervisors approval, and I was told to check my balance in 24hrs. So hopefully the 2nd activation charge will indeed be waived like I was told it would be.

I spent this past weekend telling my mother about her Droid, the Flixster app, Weather Bug app, this app called Bubbles which she really gets a kick out of. And I showed her how to use her Droid as a flashlight.

I did a search on my Droid in the market, and found several Bubble/Bubbles programs. Who is the maker of the program since that should narrow it down to a single hit.

thanks for the help.

I clicked on settings, then clicked on about and it said confettie mobile, hopefully that helps narrow it down.

P.S. I'm also a happy Droid owner!!! 😁 😁 😁

If you want to know the behind the scenes thinking as to why I got up and left IT&T and went over to Vzn, well just take a look @ that deformed of a supposed make believe Android thing called the Backflip and frinkin bust out in laughter over how deformed it is!!! Let's just say "IT&T" lost my trust with their handling of Android over this "Yahoo-Android" BS!!!

Prior to getting the Droid I asked Menno if there is any bloatware and he said no, just visual voicemail. Plus the Droid is a "With Google" smartphone, so I liked that.

And so that's pretty much how me being a Droider came to be.

Never once did I comment on the quality of Motorola, nor do I see how I am wrong in anything I said. Why would I call Motorola for support? Why would I call HTC, Rim, Lg or any other manufacture for support for that matter? Big red has in house support for that very reason. The droid is a very solid phone. Despite what you may want to admit, Motorola did have the razor which was ahead of it's time for a good while, and sold like a California wild fire.

BTW... My name is cooler. Sadly, still the same family. The "U" was derived from the non-Jewish Mossberg's wanting to be distinguished from the Jewish Mossberg's. Thank you Hitler for all of the confusion.

And that is a question that cannot be honestly answered without knowing what the OP considers the most important options.

The big splits: Does he email? Does he text? How important is a speakerphone to him? (I used to have customers intentionally choose inferior phones because they wanted a louder speaker. Inferior being they knew it would have build quality issues)

As for the OP: The best phone atm (considering he already has smartphone data) would be the Motorola droid. If he can hold out a bit longer, be can choose...

Metallic aluminum frame + Gorilla Glass...

Sure, it may not be rated as a mil-spec device, but that plastic Brigade isn't going to leave as big a dent in someone's skull as the Droid will!

I would have to suggest the G'Zone Rock, nice hard plastic exterior, it may take a swing or two more than the droid to take the target down, but at least the phone will still be fully functional afterwards. And that does make the best weapon right, one you can keep re-using?

The answer to your question is pretty simple. You have to go to a Verizon and handle the phones with hardware keyboards. Keyboards can't be compared like cpu specs because people have different size fingers, etc. You have to find something that "fits" you. If you weren't using a smart phone I'd say try the LG Touch, which has a great keyboard (for me). Actually if you go to the store try it anyway as it will give you something to compare other phones with 🙂

I got fat fingers so I knew right away that the blackberries werent a good fit for me unless I went the Storm 2 route....As everyone has said...Go to a store handle the phones with and without keyboards and tell the guys what your interested in....Believe it or not some of them may actually help you....Or they could sell you a piece of junk like they did me 2 years ago when I was suckered into the Voyager which I need to get rid of desperately....Oh sorry for ranting there...Seriously go into the store and just try the phones out

I want a phone with a QWERTY board and my hubby and I have been looking at the LG enV Touch VX11000.

Why would you say this is the best? We really just care about messaging.

The reviews I've read on other sites say the phone is buggy. I found a thread here which I can't find now about software updates and people seemed happy with the phone.

Is it really true that if you have all the software updates the phone is actually good then?

If you only care about messaging then the EnV touch isnt for you, as it requires a data plan. If you are looking for just a texting phone look at the LG cosmos or the Samsung Intensity.

The EnV touch is a great phone though, I still use one for my work phone and a droid for my personal. If you want a phone that is great for texting and web browsing, but dont want a full smartphone the EnV touch might be the right phone for you.

There is not an answer to your question. The "best" phone is subjective as it comes down to the needs and wants of the user. For some people the Moto W766 is the best phone, for others the Blackberry Curve 8530 and even others the Droid by Motorola.

You best bet is to make sure you are eligible for an upgrade, then go into a VZW store and speak to a sales rep. Tell him/her exactly what you use your phone for, what you like in your current phone and what you dont like about it. Specify any specific needs you have in the phone and they will help you into the phone that is right for you.

I dont know the specifics as I am not in sales, but I heard that the current requirements for VZW sales includes not having customer's return their phone...
