Why does the Storm suck?

Thales

What gives BB/Verizon? I've had the Storm for a total of 7 months and have replaced it 5 times. Called yesterday and canceled my service. I'd rather pay my $140 ETF over of my $130+ phone bill monthly for a phone that doesn't work. So promising, when it works I love it. Now I've got a Palm Pre with Sprint, employee plan and phone provided by Sprint... Going to retire my Storm and use it is a media device. Damn, I really loved the BB functionality with a touchscreen.

or some other comparable blackberry. Usually if you do 3 swaps, you can start asking for a new device.

my eyes are open right now for a used iphone 3gs on att (going to add a line to parents family plan). Im still going to keep my verizon line and I will prolly get the Tour2/Bold.

I just want to have both a berry and an iphone, but I dont think either the iphone could be my exclusive phone right now.

what about you???

PS...the verizon nexus one could be interesting as well 🙂

Too funny the wife and I almost pulled the trigger and got iphones this weekend.... was considering the nexus too, but just kinda burnt out on verizon lately and ready for a change. I will still have a verizon work line tho, we're using the Barrage right now.

Chris, you will no longer get a different device after 3 swaps. If there is a problem with the device, it will be replaced with the same model.

You WILL get a different model after three swaps, it just won't be new out of the box. It'll be a certified like new unit (refurbished, if you like). We've been doing them for over a month now.

I was getting JVM errors and also had a touch screen go out. I asked about a different model and was told that I was SOOL. It's kind of sad, the bill I was paying for Verizon is now going toward about 80% of a new car payment. Lulz.

Well, the biggest problem really is the matrix they use to determine what phone you go to. When you have a model high on the technology food chain, there aren't too many choices other than the same model, and it could take them months to approve a phone like Storm 2 to replace Storm 1.

Of course, you also need three swaps within 90 days. If you don't have that, there's not much you can do. However, being a Storm 1 user who has been through the software updates AND has had a swap to a refurbished unit, I can tell you that a lot of the old problems went away in six months time. They use 90 days as a guideline because today's random power issue is next month's easy software tweak. What we know about common phone issues changes in three ...

i like my storm...I have the original and after many software updates it has become one of my favorite devices. I am sure you are well aware of the fact that after 5 device swap outs they would have offered you alternatives...heck you probably could have got a deal on a palm device...but considering you are on a sprint employee plan I am guessing you are not to worried about that

Yeah, there's not much you can do to fix a Storm issue when you've got a free phone and cheap service because you happen to work for Sprint anyway. Granted, it IS the Palm Pre. I don't know if Sprint could pay ME to carry it.

They could pay me to. Phone snobbery only goes so far...

Over the years, things have changed a lot. But one thing I refuse to change is my distaste of Palm. It's not phone snobbery for me... it's a line I just won't cross!

Carried a Treo 700WX for a few months, vowed to never carry a Palm again. Then they handed me a Palm Pre, free, and I started using it. After tweaking a bit with Preware I'm absolutely satisfied with it.

For WebOS, I think Palm lost me at the three second delay whenever I click on any application, even something as simple as calculator.
