Doesn't this make more sense

Obviously I don't have all the back end financial details, but I feel this make sense... given what we know

- make the 9.99 include 75mb (25mb is nothing)

- unlimted data be 19.99

- Require data on more handsets, yet be real about it... the 8360 shouldn't require data

- Get rid of the Premium Plan

- Name the plans, talk; talk and text, and talk, text, and data (old connect plan)

- keep the changes in unlimited

This just seems like a more logical change as well as one that will potentially avoid the harsh critisism that their current structure will receive.

You don't get it......harsh critisism? They don't care about critisism. VZW is going after high revenue customers looking to save money. They will hear you if you take your revenue somewhere else. Complaints don't get heard......

...to help decrease VZW's revenue. I have four lines but only two under contract. Bill cycle date is 3. I'll be down to two after that.

You have to bail before your billing cycle ends? ( the port must take place) before your new cycle begins to not be charged for the following month?? Does it work that way??

I'm not porting. I'm disconnecting. If I were porting, I would do it now and they would have to credit the remaining days on my next bill. If I called in now they still would not disconnect me until the third.

It's just a drop in the bucket to them, but I figure saving eighty bucks or so will make me feel a bit better.

That's true in general, but stranger things have happened. When VZW wanted to do away with message delivery acknowledgments not too long ago the feedback was overwhelmingly negative, even before the change was put into place, and VZW decided to reverse their decision and left the delivery acknowledgments alone.

Well, they are already getting rid of the Premium and Connect plans, and renaming the current ones to all that talk and talk and text (although no data is included in any versions). I do agree with the other things mentioned, the data pricepoints and/or caps should be somewhat different for feature phones and the new plans should have some that include talk and data and/or talk, messaging, and data.

I posted this somewhere else, too, but I'll put it here.

Here's what I think should have happened:

Talk and Talk & Text plans are fine the way they changed them.

3G Smartphones: extra $29.99 or $44.99, as needed.

3G Multimedia Phones: Data required on most of the same phones (drop the Entice and 8360 from the list, that's ridiculous). To fulfill data requirements, add-on a Connect or Premium feature. $10 for unlimited web and email, or $20 for unlimited web, email, VZ Navigator. Only prerequisite is that the family share be on Select - no need for the primary line to have it before bolting on this feature. Not on select? Then $10 25MB option or $30 unlimited, both including email, no other features (the same way they just ch...

The reason they are forcing data plans are because they cannot explain why phones are accessing data and customers are charged that $1.99 MB fee. Now it doesn't matter.

So because some customers (by far not even close to most or many) are getting some $1.99 charges once in a while they will now require many many customers to pay $9.99/month? Makes total sense, right? Oh, wait, it doesn't. I mean, really, those who were upset about a $1.99 charge once in a while will suddenly be happy to pay $9.99/month for something they don't use? That's just beyond silly.

If it's silly. So be it. They are being interrogated by the FCC for the Advanced ETF requirement AND the phantom data requirements. That's right. This happens SO often and when customers call in for a credit it is not explained well that the Feds are poking their noses into it. GOING FORWARD...this will be remedied. They may still have to offer credits to those who hold out on upgrading or changing their plans though. I stated a few weeks ago that they may have to not charge for the first MB until the customer uses 512KB or more but this seems to be a better fit for them. They need to do something else in conjunction with this though or risk the Feds forcing a resolution upon them. Hopefully, I won't get a response from you because ...

I made a mistake above. It should have read: phantom data charges (i.e. $1.99MB).

When it broke that the FCC was looking into Verizon's etf, I told the jubilant customers that they should be careful, because verizon could just turn around and say "ok, all phones now cost 100 more"

Not that I'm saying verizon is really this petty, but I can imagine the FCC calling verizon and saying "WTF are you doing? required data?" and verizon just shrugging and saying "what? you said you didn't like hidden charges... what do you want to sue us for now? we have plenty of plan ideas."

...I wish I could draw comics.

Oh Azeron, I'm most deff. a fool. So I'll argue anytime. 😎

I think they are going to get even more calls about data charges when people inquire about overage charges because they went over 25mb. I bet a lot of people think 25mb is a lot.

Most people I've talked to about this (in the store) think 25MB is very little. They think they're going to burn through it fast, and quite honestly, with some customers I can't help but agree. I've seen teen to 20 somethings use more than I do a month, and I use about a gig each month (granted, on a Droid).
