AT&T Customers' Blood Pressure On The Rise

By Kevin McLaughlin, ChannelWeb

Apple (NSDQ:AAPL)'s iPhone may be one of the coolest gadgets ever made, but AT&T (NYSE:T) subscribers are frustrated with many aspects of the exclusive iPhone carrier's service, according to Consumer Reports' annual wireless customer satisfaction survey.

Consumer Reports polled 50,000 readers in 26 cities and found that AT&T received the lowest customer satisfaction ranking in 19 of these cities, with its lowest ratings coming in the voice service and customer support categories. Verizon, on the other hand, was ranked highest in nearly every category.

As noted by the All Things Digital blog, Consumer Reports said the iPhone ...

That someone auctually did a TEST which says customers are not happy with AT&T. 🤣 The truth hurts, huh?

It wasn't a test, it was a survey by Consumer Reports given to their readers. I took it online. And yes, I gave AT&T average to down right crummy reviews. But I also gave Verizon some not so wonderful scores too.

One would hope AT&T management would see this and think "hmmm...we need to fix this". But they won't, they keep Wall Street happy with these performances and that's all that matters.

Verizon always wins Consumer Reports surveys. It never stopped me from selling one phone when I worked for AT&T.

The fact is that last quarter more customers signed up with AT&T than with any other carrier and more customers stayed with AT&T than any other carrier. Both facts backed up by Q3 results that show record net adds and record low churn.

*Nod* Verizon HAS had better. You believe VZW will win the fourth quarter? What do you base this on? Droid and those Map commercials? Are those enough to blunt the iPhone momentum?

APPLE had a great 3Q2009

AT&T is JUST along for the ride. Their 3rd Quarter results were great because the iPhone is a compelling device, but the results are not being driven by AT&T's marketplace innovation, pricing, customer service or "more bars in more places." They're being achieving success through a sanctioned monopoly.

AT&T is being pulled kicking and screaming down the highway of success by the noose strapped around their neck, tied to the trailer hitch of the Apple iPhone Bandwagon.

Six months from now when the exclusivity expires and unlock codes come available for iPhones allowing people to jump ship for Tmo to save huge amounts of money for nearly identical service, things will be different.

Is their really someone who disputes that AT&T's success is due to the iPhone exclusive? 4.3 million activations in quarter three and 3.2 of those were iPhones. Seems rather cut and dry to me.
