Sorry if this has been covered but i can't find it.

I have a Alltel family plan with a 1000 min and 1000 text per phone. 4 phones on the plan. My phone is eligible for a upgrade. Been told two or three different things. 1. i can upgrade but have to get a verizon message pack. my text in my plan is no good. 2. my plan will work fine with a verizon phone. 3. i can send text but not pictures with my current plan.

If i have to change my plan, can i get new phones for everyone without paying full price for them? I have looked at verizon website and I can get a extra 30 off my phone so I am thinking about upgrading from the website if I do get a new phone.

sorry about the rambling. thanks in advance

I'm just taking a guess, but I'd say if you upgrade or get new phones they'll probably make you move to a Verizon plan all around.

Yeah, at least for one upgrade they should be able to do this. Their phone selection might be limited though.

As for the texting plan, that depends on how it is set up. It could be text only. I'm not in a market where we had alltel, so I'm not as familiar with their plans or how they integrated in the verizon systems

Now, if they want to add a line, or they want a phone down the line that requires current price plans, they will have to migrate.

110.00. thousand anytime min. and 1000 text, picture per line. Verizon plans are higher than this. Just aggravating that no two verizon employees can give me the same answer.

one phones is due a upgrade right now, one next month, and the other 2 next year. How would that work if I had to switch plans.

Verizon might be alright but I wished we could have just kept Alltel. Maybe when the transition is over things will be better. Just hope my phone keeps working until then.

The reason you get different answers is because most Verizon employees can only guess as to the answer. If they happen to be Alltel employees who transitioned to Verizon, I'm sure they'd have a better idea. If they're Verizon employees who previously worked in an area where they competed with Alltel, I'm sure they'd know, too. A good part of Alltel was in areas where Verizon wasn't allowed to have stores and coverage, as it was in my area.

Admittedly, my store and my people, myself included, don't know much about the transition. The closest Alltel stores were two hours away in an area where we were only allowed to have roaming (extended network because of our agreement with Alltel), and that area is being divested (sold off) as requ...

Yeah, Verizon will let you keep part of your plan, but you have to change your text pack. Sometimes they will say you need to get a data pack.

If you do end up upgrading phone, you will pay 30.00 more for text pack (unlimited text pic video and IM). You may as well upgrade to the 1400 min Select plan which has unlimited text, pic, video, IM, 10 friends and family numbers, free roaming in the whole US. You get 400 more mins to over the 1000 you use to have.

It's up to you tho. At least you have the choice to make. The customers being bought by AT&T are being forced to a AT&T contract and phone.

You may have been given different answers because there are a lot of variances. If you want to keep your alltel plan it depends on the an and phones you have now. If you don't mind changing plans you can upgrade all lines now as long as 1 is eligble.
