as in data plan required. Does anyone know if it will be categorized as a "smart phone"?

I hope not.

It's running Verizon's standard UI. I doubt it will require a data plan.

If it does, it would be the Connect plan style data plan, not the 29.99 email and web.

No. It isn't a smart phone. Do you have any idea how much hype would be involved with LG releasing a smart phone for Verizon? It is just a phone. It will not require a data plan.

I just saw where one of the many preview-reviews referred to it as a smartphone. I didn't think it was since the original Voyager wasn't... I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks for the confirmation.

It is a smarter phone. the ability to view HTML pages, I'm guessing embedded flash support (if it borrows from the versa) the ability to view documents from a MicroSD card (doc, pdf, xls, powerpoint), etc.

But it's still running the default OS, so it's not a "smartphone" just a smarter "dumb" phone.

The LGenv touch is not smartphone. LG is working on a smartphone for vzw, but no kind of info on has been released yet.
