WHATEVERWORKS

Mar 23, 2009, 9:59 PM
So has the storms usability gotten any better since it's release? i had it,and it was too slow for my liking. I have the dare, still in my 30 day trial, and thinking about switching to the storm...

just gotta try it, i have a dare and hated the storm from the get go but have started to come around on some things, plus I'm just board of my Dare Lol had it since 7/1/08 my boss actually has the storm for his personal line and dare for his data line, and prefers the storm, but similar to me after playing with the dare more is starting to come around on it, neither are bad phones.

Correct, you just have to try it. I have both the dare and the storm. My storm has the .75 software and I don't have any issues of it running slow or freezing. You have to be patient and learn how to use the phone. There are a couple of ways to keep the memory clear and the phone runs smooth. I would suggust you play with the storm for a little while before you decide on getting it.

I had both and it depends on what you want. I prefer the BB over the standard phone. But I also didn't care for the Storm. I felt it was a pain to edit your text. It was hard trying to get the cursor were you wanted it. I have the Curve like that a lot. The Dare was a neat phone if you just wanted a phone. You can't open hyper links in your email. Limted web browser.

If yoou want a great phone with good data and fast email get a BB but not the storm

I think your frustration with texting and moving the curser was due to not understanding the phone. All you have to do is touch the curser until it turns to white box then you move it where you want.

i think everyone is right for the most part. you do have to try it. there's definately a learning curve to the storm. i find that most storm users that havn't had a bberry have a tough first 2 weeks, but once they get used the bberry and the storms touch screen, their home free. now, bberry users that had a curve or pearl normally catch on quick to the storm because they already know how to use a bberry, they just need to get used to the screen. i've had a lot of experience with the dare and the storm, and my advice is to figure out whether or not you're going to really use the storm. debating between the storm and the dare is like trying to decide when you're hungry whether or not to eat a snack of a 5 course meal.

So you had the storm and got rid of it? I dunno how its going to be any different for ya.

I have a storm running .99 (non official OS update) and I love it! The only thing I dont like is the random reboots, but everything else is pretty solid.

The new OS is rumored to be out by APril...ish. so stay tuned.

Bottomline? The storm is WAAAAAAAY betta than the dare and way more functional because its a smartphone. The storm is one software update away from being flawless.

I couldnt agree with this more... People are forgetting this.. When the new update comes out in the next couple weeks it could make the storm absolutely perfect, or VERY close to it... Storm will be amazing with the right update...

yeah my gripes are pretty minor. People have to remember that we are early adopters. If you want to be an early adopters sometimes you have to struggle with a company as they fix bugs and make a more perfect device.

The storm is not perfect, but neither was the iphone or some of the newer nokias. Hell, the new nokia 5800 couldnt even connect to North American 3G outta the box and all units had to be returned.

When RIM and verizon get this one right, this phone is going to continue to shine
