I am up for an upgrade next week. I think I am going to get a Storm -- Omnia -- or perhaps the Curve --

Which is recommended for moderate email, text, and internet applications?

What if the diff between the 30/month Blackberry plan and the 45/month data plan?

30/mo is the consumer plan. It is what most people can get away with.

The 45/mo plan is for corporate email accounts, ones that require a special setup to connect to.

A good rule of thumb is if you can access your email from any computer (including public access such as libraries) you can use the $30 plan.

As for what phone you want:

How comfortable are you with touch screens?

The Storm is a "finger" touch screen, meaning you can do most of the navigating with your fingers and most of the menus are built around this.

The omnia is a window mobile device, and also is built around using a stylus to access menus. you can use your fingers for some things, but for most menus you'll want to use the attacked "pen" to navigate. ...

My only problem with the Curve is that it's been out a while and is not that cutting edge. But I am told it works great.

I am not a fan of the Storm or the Omnia. I own a Curve and it is awesome. It sounds as though you do not already have an advanced device. If that's the case then you can make the transition to the Storm easier than I could. No way do I want to unlearn my Curve habits to mess with the click screen. As far as the Omnia...I do not like it at all. I also own an XV6900 and all I can stomach doing with it is tethering. I hate texting with it and phone calls are okay. The Omnia looks to be cut from the same cloth. If your current phone is still working well and you want the next "it" device then I recommend waiting for the fabled CDMA Bold. Rumor has it that it will be branded the 9030.

Curve. It is by no means an old device. Believe me it will be around a long time from now. It has some of the best hardware blackberry has made.

Unless you are positive you dig touch screens... then it comes down to how important email is to you. It is a widely-held opinion that Blackberry has the best email solution available right now.
