😈
just read that the onia from samsung will be ready on line on the 27th..in stores the 9th. i need a phone and was thinking the blackberry.
but this has an awesome camera..and it's touch as well. does anyone know anything about this phone.
which would you get if you had to decide between the two????

I've tried the phone, and from a previous i760 user (among many other PDA phones), I can say that it impressed this Blackberry Curve convert.
I liked the i760 a lot, but felt it had little to give in the design area. My use of the Omnia made me feel like Samsung had taken the good quality and finally added good design. The accelerometer is smoother than the Storm, and it gives you a very Mac-like flip when you change directions. You can even use it upside-down.
The new toolbar on the left of the screen makes using Windows Mobile on a touch-only phone easier. Windows isn't a very touch-oriented system (it's stylus-oriented). I also have an HTC touch and enjoy that phone up until I have to type anything. The Omnia seems to be a goo...

both are good. if you want blackberry software get the storm if you want windows mobile get the omnia.

If you're new to both platforms (win mobile or bb software), what are the relative merits of selecting either? Are there any other phones coming out soon that should be considered? Is there something that the omnia or storm does better than the other?

The Omnia isn't out, I don't know how anyone can honestly answer this yet. You will have defenders of BB and WinMo. You can read answers to this question in countless forums here. It's pretty personal. I kinda hate the thought of going total touchscreen...but again, it's personal.
...
Just because it's not available to customers doesn't mean that there's no one who can answer the question.
I used it for a while. It's a good device.
...
No, I didn't mean that. But this question just irritates me sometimes. I mean, people are different and they have different preferences. When the Omnia is actually released, the poster can read the reviews on both and make a more intelligent decision - that's all I actually meant.
...
IF my question irritates you, THEN DONT RESPOND TO IT. Please go crawl back into the basement you live in. I'm looking for normal human beings who can answer a SIMPLE AND PERFECTLY VALID question: VZ is releasing several new high end phones - the Omnia, Storm, Touch Pro, more? and I want to know for whom each is best. Is one clearly better than another? If so, why? Is one well made? poorly made? Reading the reviews does NOT facilitate comparison or education about the devices as they are compared to each other. I am NOT an expert and DO value MY time and appreciate people who can post an informative and intelligent response offering a summary of the pros and cons of each of these high end phones. Sheesh. "question just irritates me" ... f'in...

Am I to presume that my comparison didn't hold any merit? 🙂
...
No, I was responding to mellow's stupidity. I appreciate your input and welcome additional input from yourself and others who are able to compare the phones - released or not. I am particularly interested in what they are supposed to be able to do and not concerned about whether it works on the 1st day of release. We all know that software updates and perhaps a Rev2 of the device will fix most anything wrong with them. But...I know some have features that others don't and unlike some on this forum, I plan to keep what I buy for 2 years and plan to buy only 1 device, not own and juggle 2 or 3 or 4!

Hey now, I juggle two phones, myself. A Blackberry and a Windows Mobile device.
Based on my time with the Omnia, I honestly believe that this will be the "other phone" people look at once it's out. The Storm is nice, but for the more traditional touch-screen or WinMo user, the Omnia will satisfy their need for familiarity as well as their desire to play in the "iPhone-styled device" category.
...
Ah, I understand now. Chalk it up to the age-old problem of difficulty in expressing ourselves as effectively online as we can in person.
I agree, it is a bit hasty asking for input on a device that hasn't hit the market yet.
That's where the dorks like me who have had their hands on some of these products come in.
...
Yeah, I really wasn't trying to get anyone's panties in a bunch- but whatever. And I realize an unlocked GSM version of Omnia has been out for a bit thought that's not always indicative of its capabilities as a CDMA device...If anyone cares to read my post from a few days ago on the "high anticipation" of these new devices before they come out vs. what those people they think about them once they're out - they can understand more where I'm coming from. But if people feel better and have a good day calling me "stupid", well whatever.

Well said for a stupid person 🙂 ....kidding

...now THAT was funny... 😁

I actually went to 3 places to buy the BB. Now that there is a delay in having enough BBs and they need updating, I have the unfortunate oportunity to change my mind and get the Omnia, Saga, or the HTC (pretty expensive...). This may not help BB sales. I say unfortunate because its time for me to get a new phone, and this is an itch that I don't like having. I too am looking for comparisons, but it will be nice to see them all in the store. I am starting to think the furer will not end until after New Years, when I can just go to the VZW store and see them all. On the Phones section of Phonescoop, I did see one angry posting that VZW had decreased the amount of memory on the HTC from what other carriers offered on the same phone. Regardless ...
