Kudos to Verizon for notifying the authorities. VZW could have covered it up but instead they are holding the culprits responsible and handling the issue with integrity.
I guarantee that every wireless carrier has people peeping in celebrities and politicians accounts and it is going unreported. At least VZW had the balls to alert authorities.

A couple employees (when you have over 50,000) does not represent the company. VZW proactively contacted the police and Obama to inform them. It's nice in this day and age to see a company do the right thing.

What if someone had a legit reason to be in the account? Do you also believe that people are guilty until proven innocent?
VZW is doing the right thing and INVESTIGATING. Those that breached the account and had no reason to will be terminated from what it sounds like.

I hope I was not misunderstood about saying shame on VZW...I should have specifically said shame on those employees involved...I think VZW is handling this issue the right way. And they don't mind the media knowing because it lets people know that Verizon won't tolerate it and employees will be disciplined for it.
As for being fired on the spot I agree to an extent but a fair investigation needs to proceed once accusations have been made. I know I wouldn't want to be fired for something I didn't do. Once they find the ones guilty of this issue then they should plainly say YOU'RE FIRED!!!

Well like most of us expected, Verizon Wireless fired the employees involved in the unauthorized Obama cell records. Good job Verizon, don't need untrusting people in a good company anyway.
