A530: Disappointing UI

I went to a Verizon store and played around with the Samsung A530 today, and I must say that I was sorely disappointed by its phone book interface. It was small and cool, but man, I don't think I'd be able to deal with that system. Are there settings you can change? I don't like how it shows the entry number and how it doesn't let you pick the number from the root menu. I guess they figure people will just search, but that's really kind of a bulky method for people with fewer contacts. The VX6000's system is pretty good, but the phone's quite a bit larger than the A530.

My 2-year-old Kyocera 2235, though, takes them both to school in terms of a solid phone book. So, cheers to Kyocera!

Anyway, my 2 years expires in March, so I guess I'l...

Reading what I just wrote, that was a bit incoherent. What I meant to say was:

3) From the contact list, if you currently have a contact selected, you can't scroll through its numbers without clicking on the contact and going into a whole other screen. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I know Kyocera and LG phones have this, you might want to check it out. For instance, if I go ...

i for one have the a530 and i have no trouble with the phonebook. i can get entries from using letters and also from numberical. maybe you should download the manuel from the samsung web site and read it. i love the 999 capacity and have over 450 entries. the best phone so far. only thing lacking for me is a speakerphone addition, but find i really do not need it anyway. seems your in love with kyoceras and that is what you really want. maybe you're just looking for excuses to not buy. the only other phone i personally would consider is the new LG 4500 and it is larger than the samsung. the samsung is just the perfect size and has all the features most need. samsung, lg, motorola, nokia, etc. that's why there are many companies and many mode...

Well, at this point, I'm pretty sure my choice will be an A530 or a VX6000. I just wanted to see what kind of options the A530 has.

I do like Kyocera's usability, but was unimpressed with build quality and design.
