I’m thinking of getting the Storm but I’m also thinking of maybe getting the HTC Touch Pro if Verizon gets it. Why do people like the Window base phones?? What do they do over a BB?? Can you open outlook on a BB?? I though I would ask all you ppl so I can hear the pro and cons

Thanks 😁

The biggest draw to Windows Mobile is familiarity. It used to be that WM had the corner on Office functionality and synchronization with a Windows PC, but the differences between mobile operating systems are quite blurred now.

Honestly, I used WM devices for most of my seven years with big red, and only went to the Blackberry Curve in the last six months, but absolutely prefer the Blackberry over any WM device for overall quality.

Touch Pro will be in stores December 1.

I have had my MotoQ for two years and have accumulated a lot of third party software. None of this will work on the BB, but will it work on Win 6.1, since is was created for Win5. This and the 3.5 headset size will be decision makers for me. But, you mention quality here, what kind of items are you thinking about when you say the quality is better on the BBs?

thx,
Joey

Do you have to be on the 44.99 data plan for it to sync with outlook?

I only had the 29.99 blackberry data plan when I had my Curve and I was able to sync to MS Outlook on my PC.

You should never need any data plan to sync with a computer using the USB cable on ANY device.

The $44.99 plan allows you to sync with a server, which includes contacts and appointments (part of PIM) as well as e-mail. It also gives you Internet on your phone.

The $29.99 plan allows you to sync with your personal e-mail (GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail, your ISP's POP3 e-mail). It does not give you PIM synchronization. It also gives you Internet on your phone.

You can cable sync with a computer whenever you want, regardless of the plan you're on.

I have the i760 and with its built in wifi as well as my 3rd party app WNWifiRouter (http://www.wmwifirouter.com/) my phone becomes an access point for my laptop. And I dont have to cough up another $15 to Verizon each month. Plus more than one laptop can access it.

There are already a million other apps avail for WinMobile (some free and some for $) You can find an app for anything. I iknow if I go with the Storm I will be giving up the the free tethering. But I am hoping the developers out there make some other good apps for it. If the software base lags then so will sales ultimately and the iPhone will end up winning.
