Verizon in DC
I am thinking at switching over to Verizon from T-Mobile. How is service around the Washington DC metro area?
...
The network service is good here. I never have a problem with my calls nor with my data/internet service using my smartphone. However, you can not get good service on the Metro when you are under ground, although there is a system there for Verizon phones. Don't expect too much from the Verizon stores though.

It's awesome. There are plenty of VZW stores in the metro area, they are like 7-Elevens I swear.
VZW currently has an exclusive partnership with Metro Transit Authority that only allows them to deploy towers underground for Metro riders.
There is spotty coverage in some of the outskirts of Vienna neighborhoods as well as Clifton.
Otherwise it's pretty much immaculate.

He is right, there are many stores, but they are always crowded, still its better than going to Best Buy. I recently heard that the exclusive partnership with Metro will end very soon. I always lose my connection when the train goes underground. The only place it works for me is on the platforms...even the underground ones.

Are you in the city of DC or in the MD/VA suburbs? If you're in the burbs, which part?
I've been all over the area and Verizon Wireless has advantages. They were the first to work well and still have the only network in the METRO (Sprint roams off Verizon Wireless down there)
Also, you will probably find more people in this area have Verizon Wireless than any other carrier. This will help you keep your minutes down since you will get free mobile to mobile.
I have an Authorized Retailer store in Fairfax, VA. Are you near me?

What store do you work at in Fairfax? That's where I'm from and i'm looking to get a second line.

My sister made the switch last year and is very happy. Her and her husband switch to two Palm Treo 700p's. Both live in Silver Springs MD. She works in DC and he works in Bethesda. Both say they are so impressed with reception over T-Mobile. Especially in the transit.
