disappointed by the last bill after termination of service

After 4 years with Verizon, I recently ported my number to another carrier. I actually did that around the third day of my billing cycle. I called Verizon customer service and hoped to get refunded for the unused days in that billing cycle. I was told I would be charged for the full billing cycle anyway. Really disappointed by this policy. Is there anything I can do? Thanks.

Normally, there's not much you can do because the user agreement states that disconnections including port-outs will be processed on the last day of your cycle (5th paragraph: Your Rights to Change or End Your Service; Termination Fees; Phone Number Portability). Now since you were 3 days within your cycle, you can attempt to call and see if they can issue some kind of courtesy credit.. but it will be really up to the rep and if something is given to you, don't expect it to be much.

Yeah, I am not a fan of this policy either. It's an easy way for VZW to lower the credits they issue, even if it's only for unused service.

This type of billing policy seems to be getting around. When I cancelled my GameFly subscription, I did not get a refund for the remainder of the month I was in.

Call CARE up, ask for the rest of the Bill cycle credited. Ask for a supervisor if they refuse. The supervisor will likely credit it back to you.

You will see that your unused charges will already be credited back to you. Without having to call in. When you port out your acct is canceled on demand.
