Thank you for taking me back

Okay, I admit, I fell for the 3G iPhone hype and quickly realized that AT&T is FAR from where VZW is for call quality or data speed. Where I live has no 3G coverage, so I was suffering through EDGE, ya know, dial up for cell phones! 😛

Anyways, I ported from big blue over to Sprint, a carrier I have not used in a few years. I was hoping for an improvement. That did not happen. So, I called VZW Saturday afternoon and asked to be ported back. Their retention department assisted me very professionally.

I do not know if they visit here, but I would like to thank Elmi and Melissa in customer service, and Shermann in the tech department, for all of their assistance.

Love 'Berries, hate Apples!! 😁

So we know you used the iPhone for AT&T, but what did you use on Sprint and what specifically made you leave them?

Perhaps the grass seems greener on the otherside and it great porting and trial periods let us see for ourselves without hype. Glad you found out for yourself what works for you.

Specifically, I don't know. I tried the new Moto Razr VE 20, and coming from a BB Curve, it was too great of an adjustment. I could have returned the Moto and got a Curve with Sprint, but I already owned a BB Curve when I was on VZW, so why buy the same phone on another carrier? Now I am back with my BB Curve on VZW and very happy again.

In hindsight I should have not ported away at all.

I'm torn between Sprint and VZW. Both offer BB curves but SPRINT offers more features for less $$. I also hear that when sprint can't hit their towers then just grab a VZW tower. SO wouldn't the coverage be just as good??

to my knowledge, and this may only be with verizon, i have been told that on the prl list, when you roam (say sprint is on the bottom of vzw prl) that unless vzw has "no service" it will not switch to a non vzw tower that might have way better coverage.

im not saying this to be true, but just what i have been told. it makes sense, but may be false

I am using a BB Curve 8330. Best phone to date in my opinion.
I had purchased an iPod touch in hopes it would satisfy the craving for a touch interface device, but instead, it made it worse, so I got the iPhone.

I really think if the iPhone had a CDMA cousin, it would sell way better than on AT&T. I had tried out the LG Dare a few months back, but the touch interface is nothing like the iPhone or iPod Touch, even though the guts inside are superior in every way.

while i would love to see the iphone on vzw, i dont think it will happen. lte should be out by 2010 or 2011, so thats only a year or 2 to see the cdma iphone.... UNLESS apple was smart and made it an iphone 3g cdma/lte.

but we can all hope cant we 🙂

yeah I use a curve as well. Im trying to find a sprint red housing online so I can swap it out for this silver housing....ah the life of a gadget nut.

And like army said, I believe there will be a verizon iphone within about 1 year. The dare is ok, but both friends I had that got the phone took it back within the first month.

The iphone will not have a cousin but it will have an iphone killer. VZW is coming out with the Samsung SCH-910. Same features as iphone but better network.

nothing is like the iphone, except the iphone. Until some other company license OSX for use on various platform, people will still want the iphone.

iPhone by far has the best touch-screen interface and screen orientation adjustment based on the position the phone is in. Nothing will be able to touch it. I only have faith in the BB Storm but even I'm a bit skeptical.

I agree! I did the same thing, I ported out of Verizon thinking that the grass was greener on the other side, I was WRONG! I ported to Alltel, another CDMA carrier. They claim to have reliability and "largest coverage". It sucked hands down! I was on Verizon's network most of the time outside of my home town. Sometimes it even took about 30 minutes to 2 hours to send a TXT message through. I ported back to Verizon and I'm staying. Verizon is really the best I don't care what ATT or Alltel has. Although Verizon isn't perfect, no carrier is, Verizon's "reliable network" claim is at least true.

I made the same mistake. I switched from Verizon to AT&T to get the iPhone 3G. I knew going into it that AT&T didn't have that great of coverage, but it's killing me now. I constantly drop calls and people can't understand what I'm saying because the calls are constantly distorted. When I had Verizon, I never once dropped a call and never had distorted calls. Verizon really does have the most reliable wireless network. I wish I could have them back but I'm already into my contract!! As soon as my 2 years are over, I'm saying goodbye to AT&T!!!

Jack Plating EVP & COO was asked... there is a rumor about a CDMA iPhone coming out next year with Verizon Wireless (this is due to a job posting on Apple's site asking for an engineer with GSM, UMTS, CDMA, and EVDO knowledge). His response was.... "Funny, we never got that call"

David Smalls NE Area President added... "We did get a call but the call was lost due to Apple's poor network"

If you like the Curve... there is always the Storm. Jack had one on hand and said he used the Dare, went back to the Voyager for the keypad... but when he got the Storm, it was made for him. The Omnia by Samsung is a good WinMo phone. I got to play with it today a bit with Opera load on it already for browsing. If you want direct iPhone contender, get ...
