I was at the verizon store the other day, and while there I was looking at the phones they offer, and I was like wow, I don't plan on getting any of these phones. They were all camera phones and very few tri-mode's They had a samsung that was a tri-mode and no camera, but big deal, that thing looked like the lg 6100, you drop it one time and it would shatter, they looked very cheap, samsung looked the better of the 2. I am disappoints in Lg for putting the 6100 out on the market, besides the volume problems people are reporting, it just looks like a toy. The lg 4400 is an awesome phone and should still be available to the people that want a phone, not a camera. I have 2 new 4400's sitting in my desk for back up, and from what verizon ha...

I agree about the necessity for more trimode phones, at least until Verizon's rural roaming partners are finally forced to go to digital. I understand that the coming new LG 8100 phone will be trimode.

The 8100 will not be out for probably another year seeing that it was just approved by the FCC. From what I read it will have EVDO, and Bluetooth but it will be DIGITAL only unfortunately.
Does any know if they will ever release an EVDO phone that will support analog?

Take a look at this website. It says the 8100 will be trimode, dual band.

Your link didn't work on my computer but I was able to check the FCC website, I didn't see any info saying tri-mode. Dual-Band CDMA w/Bluetooth Phone is the only info I could find. Please let me know where exactly this info is on the FCC database. This is the page I was on:

You're right. I can't get it to work either. But go to the LG Forum and look at the seventh post down from the top, which was posted by TheMrBillShow at 4:40 pm Eastern Time on Thursday, Feb. 10. Go to the second website he posted and you will see it.

Look at the RF testing info there is nothing for AMPS. "This phone is the one of tri band Quad mode- 800Mhz CDMA, 1900Mhz PCS, 1500Mhz GPS" -FCC database>> This sentance barely makes sense, and to me the Quad mode is referring to CDMA, PCS, GPS, Bluetooth.

The more I looked at it, the less sense it made to me, too. I think you're right that there is nothing for AMPS. What a pity.

The 6100 looks way better than the 4400. I've nicknamed the 4400 "the redneck phone"

different strokes for different folks, I think the 6100 looks like a kid's toy, and feels like one to. My main concern was that most of their phones offered thru verizon is camera phone's, and all digital. Not all of us live in New York City, some of use these phones in rural areas and need analog here and there, and don't need or want a camera phone, and camera phones are being banned in areas, and they will continue to be banned more and more with more people getting them.

The 6100 kicks the 4400 for one reason, SPEAKERPHONE. Plus compare the screens, the 4400's screen resolution is bad. And imo i think the 4400's button feel cheap.

I have had speakerphones before, no big deal, about the only time I used that was when I was checking my voicemail. I will give you that one though, if you like speakerphone, then the 4400 does not have that.

I still am not convinced on the 6100, in fact have one coming from verizon tomorrow, it is getting sent back, my wife just went with the 4400 we have and now we don't have to sign new contract.

I am not here to argue about the 4400 versus the 6100, I just compared the 2 since they both are trimode, and the 6100 to me seems like a cheap toy you would get from McDonald's in a happy meal. My argument here is when is verizon going to get a decent tri-mode phone without the camera that is like the 4400. So, lets just agree to disagr...

Have to agree... a fair number of ppl want exactly what you're looking for (trimode, no camera) because their workplace doesn't allow camera phones. And about their only current choices (if you want a flip phone) is the Samsung 650 (which doesn't have an ext screen) and the Moto V260 (which only Radio Shack carries).

Maybe the lack of choices in VZW's non-camera trimode lineup explains the nostalgia for the LG 4400. A need largely unmet, as it were. C'mon VZW, can you hear us now? 😕
