I looked at the phone reviews etc, and I've seen the phone at the Verizon store, but without long term use I don't know if I should dish out the $ to get it. (not eligible for upgrade) The reviews had some good info but some of the things people put in was petty stuff. I don't care about finger prints, camera with no flash and all that...how does it function? is it full of bugs or not? is it built fairly sturdy? how fast is the processor? reception strength? did anybody buy it and get that "I wish I knew about that problem" thought? and how does it compair to the LG 8350? I usually rely on the reviews but I think the 8350 is hard to beat and I don't wanna waste money. Thanks in advance 🙂

Choco 3 is a solid phone. I've been using mine for a few weeks now. I don't use all of the fancy features, such as the fm transmitter or the dashboard. I previously had the 8600 and this was the most logical upgrade. Very sturdy phone. Keypad is nice. screens are very crisp. battery life is excellent and no issues with reception. comparing to an 8350, choco 3 hands down feels like a phone that will last. 8350 feels cheap although it is a fairly decent phone. shell out the extra cash, you'll be happy you did.

Sounds like you should've gotten the LG-VX5400 or the 8350 if you don't use all of the "fancy" features. That would've been the logical upgrade.

Does the 8350 require the NW plan? If you're not already on it, then I'd say that's the one thing that might cause pause. That's the one thing I'm a bit pissed at... I had to up my plan just to get this phone. Now all my data is billable, including just browsing for samples. I didn't have to pay for my phone (cause I qualified for the new every 2 discount), but to me, the NW plan cripples my enjoyment of this phone.

Then again, if you never browse, you shouldn't care about upgrading your plan, right? The phone itself is solid, I have no complaints about it, whatsoever. It's just the forced NW plan.... grrrr....

Thanks for the info everybody. As for the NW plan, I'm on a Premium Family Plan which I want to stay on. Deciding on a phone with bells and whistles is big with me because I'm a data junkie. I use Vcast, mobile web, txt/pix/flix messaging, download, and use alot of programs like email, Loopt, VZ Navigator etc. As for the FM Transmitter, thats the "cherry on top" that got my attention. I almost bought a FM transmitter for my car but the C3 came out and then I thought I'd wait it out. For those who have the C3, how does the software run? Is it fast? Does it freeze up or reboot?

Thank you for dictating what would be a logical decision in phones for me. I apoligize that i find the 5400 and 8350's to feel and appear cheap. I liked the thinness of my 8600 in the past and thought that this was a nice upgrade to that. For some phone use is a bit more standard and we are willing to pay the price to have a nice phone without using the features.

I love my 8560 especially the 1gb onboard memory it came with. No other phone will give you that. Speakers sound great on the phone for phone speakers. I use the fm transmitter a lot and like it as well. However it could be a bit stronger. The only thing I have about this phone is if you ever have it open and sit on it there goes your phone. The joint between the keypad and the screen seem flimsy. The camera takes good pictures if there is good light however it doesn't do good in the dark at all hence no flash. Any phone just about will pick up prints. The whole thing about the keypad being slippery is really not an issue. I use my phone pretty much as an ipod almost every day when I work out. I enjoy not having to carry around 2 devices any...

if you want to use your mobile for music the chocolate is the better choice. Outside of that I would not say the chocolate is any better then the 8350 when it comes to quality and features. If you are just wanting it for looks...hey it is your money, but besides a few features like the fm transmitter there is not a huge difference

The features of the phone are great though the only issue that I have found with it when selling the phone is the voice activated dialing. I had customer who was very upset because of that. And after trying several other phones it seems like that is a problem LG will have to release a firmware update for.

1) one bug is the backlight for the keypad. i set it to always on and it goes off when the screen goes off.

2) the voice dial is not a bug buy a bad quality voice recognition product. lg has this software and samsung has their software. samsung software is much better then lg when it comes to voice dialing

I know its not the same phone, but we have an original chocolate, which received pretty good reviews when it came out. It's an awful phone. Its too difficult to hit the buttons properly and the power adapter is proprietary and too easy to break. I would get a different phone, since I will never have another chocolateThis is only 2 cents, but that is all you requested.

The original chocolate was garbage. The 2nd and 3rd chocolates are awesome.

I just figured that I'd give my two cents, as I'm trying out this phone right now. It could just be the one that I'm using, but I noticed that scrolling through lists within the music section can result in the selection often going sporadically up and down whenever you intend to just go down, for instance.

Also, the CLR key doesn't seem to respond to multiple quick presses.

I'm a bit disappointed at how little you can do from the outer screen, but I do like the fact that the scroll wheel isn't completely useless by itself anymore. You can now go back within a menu by clicking up on the wheel. I'm using the Chocolate 2 on my personal line at the moment, and I hate the fact that the case keeps the wheel exposed, yet you can't really do m...

the chocolate 3 at my location has done quite well. i really cant say i have any complaints about it. i have recommended it several times with my customers.

to me, it seems as though lg is seriously trying to redeem themselves with this line. the original chocolate (generally speaking) was an awesome seller but had many, many flaws. the 2nd version was much improved and had far less complaints. 3 has been fantastic.

it is rare to find someone in my store who is upgrading from the chocolate 1 that is on their original purchase and has not had to exchange it out due to defect. I cringe at the thought of that phone. the chocolate 3 (knock on wood) is a solid phone.

You know, the tragic thing is that so many people are so scarred by their experiences with the first Chocolate that they refuse to give the 2 and 3 a shot. I have the 2, myself, and I constantly find myself having to defend it for this very reason. I'll wholeheartedly admit to a customer right over the phone that the first Chocolate was a horrible phone. I really just wish that the 2 and 3 didn't share the same name, as many people will dismiss them on name alone.

I feel that some people are unnecessarily harsh toward 2, as well, because they expect a replacement if the touch functionality doesn't happen to respond EVERY SINGLE TIME that you press it. It's not perfect, but man...it's very close. I've had no problems with my phone. Sure, t...

I wonder if the "jog wheel" is durable. I've heard that the earlier models of the Chocolate had jog wheel issues, like they fell apart easy. But I've also heard they get more durable with every model. Would anybody recommend putting the phone in a phone case, or would that damage the jog wheel? I've pretty much decided to go with the C3 if I were to upgrade (unless a better phone hits the shelves). I used to be a Moto guy but the RAZR 2 ran me off. Moto needs help! But the C3 seems like an awesome phone.
