I use cellsea.com

Cellsea has more functionality (I just compared it to mobile17). You can actually search to see if somebody already made the ringtone before you go through the time to make it yourself. Mobile17 makes you wait based upon priority before they send you the ringtone.

You get your file right away from cellsea. Huh. Weird.

Hey vharger, posting this from my blackberry so hope you can make out what I'm saying, only going from memory as well.

From the desktop manager lainve the media management or whatever it is.

In the top left it should have something that says import digital audio or something along those lines, click that, choose your sound card, and then play around to find the right settings.

It takes some work and some learning, once you figure out how to work it its GREAT, I got probly 40 or 50 I made in an hour. Just play with it!

Also in the media manager you can right click a file, then there are some editing options, one of the ones at the bottom pops up a screen that let's you master the files distortion, effects, volume, eq and export...

Just my two cents but I use crackberry.com and funformobile.com they either send you them directly to your phone or you download them using the phones browser. Now if they do not have what you want...then maybe add the song in its whole length to a memory card in the music. You can still use those as ringtones.

Hey,

Its very easy, no 3rd party software, or websites to sign up for,

On your blackberry go into your media icon, select music, select all songs, find the one you want as a ringtone and highlight it, hit the blackberry key and select "set as ringtone"

Of course its longer than 30 seconds but its so easy and it works

Ok typing this from the pearl again, I’ll try to explain a little more maybe it’ll help, again, I don’t have the software in front of me so I can not give you exacts so I apologize.  So please, PLEASE, take these instructions with a grain of salt and if they aren’t working for you do your own exploration, even if this isn’t exactly right, it should get you in the right direction.
**Note if you already have the mp3, you MAY be able to skip to step 3, try to skip if you already have the song on your hard drive and you aren’t making things from scratch**
1:  Basically do what I said in the first one, open up Media Manager, click Import Digital Audio, and choose your sound card.  It will ask you how you...
