Sprint dropped another 1.09 million subscribers in Q1

Q 1 2008 wasn't a pretty one for Sprint. The company lost 1.09 million subscribers to the competition, while also losing a bit of ground on its average revenue per customer, now at $56 a month. Sprint's got 52.8 subscribers left to squander work with, so we'll see if initiatives like a potential Nextel spinoff or the upcoming Samsung Instinct (pictured) can do anything to staunch the bleeding.

well sprint is still doing very well IMO 🤣

Sprint loses $505 million as company loses 1 million subscribers; more job cuts comin

By JASON GERTZEN and DAVID HAYES
The Kansas City Star

Sprint Nextel lost 1 million subscribers and $505 million during the first quarter as sales declined 9 percent.

The Overland Park wireless company said it “continues to assess its business model” and is considering selling off “non core assets.”

In a call with Wall Street analysts this morning, Sprint controller William Arendt said the company will continue to cut costs by cutting jobs. He didn’t specify a number.

The company’s loss of 18 cents per share widened from a loss...

They better find some company to take over Nascar sponsorship. They wouldn't lose as much money. 😁

plus, dan is the man. i hope he does well at sprint. we as average consumers have him to thank for a lot of stuff we do, like unlimited internet at a fixed rate, wireless packages that we don't pay extra for long distance and roaming..........

With all the store closings that happened in April and are still happening you're going to see even more people cancel who are pissed off that they can't find a service location.

Awe, isn't that cute? Cellenator is making the rounds, telling all the VZ people about Sprint's bad quarter. And he's typing in big, bold letters. How special.

Sprint had a really bad first quarter. We all know that, and we all knew that it was going to happen. The company said so months ago. The next couple of quarters aren't going to be good either.

Do you have any new info for us? Anything we haven't heard or already know? Or are you just going to keep regurgitating your usual "Sprint Sucks and is dieing!!!!!" posts?

Just wondering

Normally I would be saying "Hahaha Sprint" but now I'm at the point where I feel bad and I really want Sprint to pull through. The last thing this world needs is another major company going under. A lot of capital and productivity will be lost and that's the last thing this economy needs - more losses.

Having less competition is a bad thing, more competition = more innovation (e.g. business models, service, products). no, I'm not going to call on for regulation, I'm not going to join sprint because I love my VZW service. I'm just going to be rooting for them to pull through during this time of crisis. if they fail, then so be it ... but if they do well, that's great for the world and for the people that poured their hearts, time, and...

Sprint deserves these losses, I have zero sympathy for such a poorly ran operation. Sprint has threated their customers like crap, they deserve this backlash. People are now hip that sprint is a ****ty ass carrier, I hope ppl continue to take their money to the competition.

I do not disagree with you on how bad their operations were. I just hope they can learn from their mistake and treat their customers right and run their operations more efficiently. I hope this is their wake up call and not their death sentence.

i have sprint, like the service but not the CS, yet i dont go around posting all this crap. does it really fulfill your life to do so? is your life that boring that you find so much joy in reporting what everyone already knows? is your mothers basement (aka your bedroom) nice and cozy?

It's today news lol just because you don't share my sadistic hate for sprint that doesn't make it wrong 😁

Look sprint is a little ****ty company that has to take it medicine for all the evil doing that company has inflicted upon the masses. I hope they lose all their customers and decent worthwhile company like tmobile buys them out, and fires everyone who works there 🤣

Very sad that people want others to lose their jobs, especially the way the economy is right now. I used to work for Sprint, I was in one of the first set of stores to be layed off 2 years ago. Let me tell you, it was not fun to start scrambling around to find a new job that pays well.
I agreed then as I do now that the company was not making the right decisions. They had a lot of problems when I worked for them as they still do now, but I don't see how people can hope and wish for job losses. 😕
