so its a fact now; if you are a new or old customer and want to try out verizon service for 30days and for some reason you need to exchange the phone for a different phone vzw will charge you $20.00. I mean this company keeps on becoming greedy and greedy.. at&t gives you the real 30 day refund policy and they dont charge you for exchanging phones.

why should we give you another phone for free? it is up to the customer to make a knowledgable decision on which phone they want before they purchase it. we are nice enough to let you change your mind and get a different one without paying full retail price for it. maybe eventually customers will learn that most of the things we do are a curtesy to them and not something we have to do. keep being greedy tho, you will go far in life ๐Ÿ™„

If a store rep sells you something you don't need and you test it out and figure that out... why should you be charged $20 for that.

I've seen 80 yr old grandma's tell me... all I wanted was a camera phone and the rep sold them a Chocolate or can I check my e-mail equals you need a blackberry.

If I test drive a car, does the dealer charge me for it?

wow you are so wrong. I have friends that did that and some of my family members that have done it and was not charged $20. And they did this in the past 2 months (including yesterday).

I just think you got screwed. you need to talk to someone's boss.

Re: verizon so called 30day refund policy.another scheme by the dark empire..

by phonefan1 Today, 9:19 AM
Yes, if you decide that you want to change your equipment within your 30 day WFG you will in fact be charged a $20 exchange fee. That is because VZW can't sell those phones as new once they are opened and customers really need to decide what phone they actually want before making the purchase. First they want a red phone and then decide no they wanted an orange phone. Well, the exchange should not be based on color choices, I have issue if it that the phone selected does not have the features required, but if you buy a car without A/C can you just take it back after driving a few thousand miles for one that does? Any way- the $20....

Upgrade fee only applies to EARLY upgrades- those people that have not fulfilled the 20 months required for an upgrade. So, if you want a new phone every year, why not pay an extra $20.00.

I missed the part were the 30 day exchange was an upgrade....

You need to talk to his boss then. I used to work with VZW too. You only charge the $20 for Early Upgrades because you let them upgrade outside their date.

In regards to the exchange ... the exchange doesn't cost any money. However, he is right about the ability not to resell the phone once it's return. That is why you can only do one exchange.

Yah, guess what! Verizon now charges $1 million to do an ESN change. It must be true because I said it and I work for Verizon. Righttttt....

The $20 device initiation fee is when you change your ESN not through a WFG exchange. If you did an upgrade and were billed the $20 fee, when you exchange you already paid the $20. The exchange order already changes your ESN for you, so no need to create a second order that automatically charges the $20. The system is automated in that way. That is, unless someone typed in to charge you another $20 during the exchange because that item does not autopopulate...

whoever works for vzw here needs to read their m&ps or updates. you know the processing fees mp changed to cpe customer owned equip, then to device initiation fees. all in a matter of like what, 3 months. even though i work for vzw, this is updated info directly from the company. it DOES now cust 20.00 to swap phones even within the 30 days. it costs 20.00 for regular standard upgrades like for 2ndary lines too. it doesn't cost that for ne2 however. i know this isn't a pretty thing. it makes sense though. also activation fees you don't get back after 3 days of the wfg. yes. this is true. do some research.

ok first of all there is no need to get a boss involved. vzw adding that fee is a recen change in the corporate locations. from now on if you bring back a phone under the wfg period you will be charged a 20 dollar "restocking" fee if you want to say that UNLESS the phone is a defective unit. 20 dollar fee applies to all upgrades, exchanges, and ESN/meid changes EXCEPT

government/corporate liable customers with ecpd profile
meri customers
ne2
device bought at full retail
devices with 0 usage (less then 15min on timer)
defective devices
all fru exchanges
wpp replacements (insurance)
ACTIVE devices swapped between lines on same account.

now if you are a merits customer and you do a wfg...the fee i believe applies because u r ex...

๐Ÿ™„ No what your talking about before you step out of turn ๐Ÿ™„ If it is an exchange within the Worry Free Guarantee you will not be charged a $20 fee for processing a change! And in fairness of knowing what's right and doing what's right, I hope you weren't charged in a situation like that. ๐Ÿ˜ณ If so call customer service and voice your concern. Hmm and if I recall didn't your so called blessed AT&T charge upgrade fees to their TDMA customers when they forcing them to convert? ๐Ÿ˜› Hmmmm stinks to me, but I don't have time to have a pissin contest. ๐Ÿคฃ

It is true that there is a $20 upgrade fee for any non New Every Two upgrade. There is also a Device Initiation Fee anytime a ESN change is done in a store, including Worry Free Gurantee exchanges, but excluding warranty exchanges. The $20 fee will also apply when you bring a phone to the store to replace equipment on a current MTN.

In addition to the new policies, if you return your equipment via WFG and deactivate, your activation fee will not be waived if past 3 days or 30 mins of talk time on the phone.(could be wrong on the mins part but there is a min limit.)

As always you can only perform 1 equipment exchange to a different model phone within the WFG.

๐Ÿ‘€ In fact it may be a policy that is loosely being enforced. However the fact remain reps are/should be empowered to waive that if that's the case. I know in my local contact center that they would prefer we be more flexible rather than be a stickler for $20. I find it even more interesting that they (customer) could just close the account during the WFG and open up a new account with the equipment they want rather make use of the WFG and get the equipment they need. After all hurdles are what we trying to prevent for customers, right? ๐Ÿ˜

Possibly but a good portion of our newer customer base qualify for free activation fees due to Employee liable offers. So it could go either way. I understand the dollars and cents of it all but it is still a hurdle for customers during the WFG at least. โ˜น๏ธ

I asked the question to the Regional Director of retail sales our a recent quarterly meeting.

The $20 applies to all account types. ELEU, consumer, business, with or without discounts. It is a pure processing fee.

I am a direct rep and I have to ability to waive it. I am not going to let a upgrade or a customer deactivate over $20. If it is a multi line upgrade, I will charge 1 fee or waive them all, just depends on the customer. I tell them about it upfront and if they object, I deal with it.

This might sound bad, but I will always waive it for a customer who is buying accessories, or adding a new line, or moving to a pda. I do not make a dime of commission on the fee, but I have to charge them sometimes or I will get heat f...

The fee for the WFG is in place because customers get a red 8830 but want silver. The company takes a financial hit by taking in that 500 dollar device and exchanging it with the EXACT one of a different color. If equipment is defective the fee is waived, if the customer wants different features a majority of stores have all live phones..they are MORE then welcome to download/call/play with the device at thier own discretion. I agree with it... you want a different color phone...i call it a restocking fee because we dont sell used phones and most the customers say "well that makes sense" and they are content.

Not true about the TDMA sunset offer. We weren't charging custs to upgrade to a new device, at least not in my market, can't speak for the rest of the other markets. I just know we did not charge an upgrade fee for those customer. We do have an $18 upgrade fee but sometimes that is waived based on how much your MRC is a month.

As of 4/15, VZW customers will pay a handset transfer fee of $20. The only customers that do not pay this fee are merits/VIP/business accounts or swaps between lines on the same account. This should clear up any misunderstanding. If you exchange your phone within the 3rd and 30th day of upgrading, you will be charged $20 if you do not meet the above exceptions. I think you all are cute and funny. ๐Ÿ˜‰
