Can some people give me your thoughts on this. I am wanting to have the options to use PTT. Verizon is making changes to there service to make it better and I am trying to decided who is going to be better for coverage and service. Sprint has ready link already and working but I don't know how well I live in Wisconsin, With the merger of Nextel are they going to provide a better direct connect service than verizon?

Am I better off to switch or let Verizon make there changes and they will be better word on the street says it will be may/june for the improvments on the PTT at verizon?
Thanks for any help 🙄

If you're concerned with PTT, Nextel is the only sane choice.

If all you care about is the walkie-talkie feature, then head to NexTel. Personally I don't see the big deal in it if you have M2M, rather than dialing someone and talking to them, you have to dial their PTT number and push a button to talk to them. Am I missing something here?

Well nextel has no coverage area. Second nextel you have 2 different number to dial one for mobil and one for direct connect. M2M is ok but the problem I have is that there is a delay when you call verses a direct connection with no delay. PTT is nice for quick answers to questions like when you are on trips etc. I just think it will be a nice thing to have plus you get m2m out of the deal.

Having a phone number and separate number for PTT is a great idea. If I don't want to give someone my PTT number I don't have to. With Verizon and Sprint if they know your phone number they can PTT you - whether you want them to or not.

I sort-of agree with the previous two responses, and I don't see the allure of PTT. But I'd have to say leave VzW if it's important to you. PTT Phase II for VzW will be great, but in Wisonsin, the actualy VzW digital coverage area is few and far between, and therefore the PTT in that state definately won't match Nextel.

There's definitely quite a few Readylink phones out there, and most of them are made by Sanyo. Good phones, but crappy service for lots of people. Dropped calls & the like. For the time being, Nextel is the way to go if you absolutely HAVE to have PTT. I got one of the first VZW PTT phones from the company I worked for, and turned it back in 2 days later. Horrible, simply horrible. The company got rid of them about a month later. Once I went to work for VZW, I found out that the latency issue had somewhat resolved, but I still can't find anyone who wants the (now) elderly V60Ps we have in stock...

Are you working corporately? Either way phoase two should be quite impressve, afeter first hand use i must say i was blown away at the difference, but i remember the first time i demoed the first PTT and it was also not to shaby but soon after when it dropped it didn't really resembel what i had seen a a regional meeting. As for the PTT coverage in wis. its not to large, but the actual cell service as usual is by far and away the best.
