What happens when my current 2 yr plan with Verizon expires?

My 2yr plan with Verizon will expires on 4/30. What if I don't renew my plan, eventhough I plan to stay with Verizon? Will Verizon shut off my cell phone service? Will they just bill me month to month at my existing rate? If they do, then what is the benefit of renewing?

Thanks,

you get billed month to month. benefits of renewing are usually a discount on a new phone in exchange for renewing your contract, you might also be eligible for promotions like bonus "overage" minutes or something too.

Also, depending on when you signed up with VZ, your "New Every Two" might expire 6 months after your renewal date.

The gray small text at the bottom of this link, which says "If you enrolled in the program on or after 11/25/02, you must take advantage of the New Every Two offer within six months of becoming eligible; otherwise, you may be charged full retail price to upgrade your current handset."

That said, no one's ever been denied a discount on a phone upgrade any time after becoming eligible. That would apply to most all carriers and most instances other than limited time promotions, which this is not.

It's there...but it's not upheld really. Verizon makes no money on the phone anyway, so it's just for legal reasons. As for what happens when your contract expires...your phone just spontaneously combusts 🤣

Well let me tell you what happens when your plan expires or at least what should happen if you are smart ;)

First you call up saying you want to cancel (no it does not realy matter if you intend to or n ot), once you are talking to retentions you put the screws to them, demand ridiculous things like the same plan at half the price etcetera... They will negotiate and you will probably depending on how smart/good you are at negotiating end up with an amazing deal. I hope that this helps 🙂

and this is why the wireless industry is how it is now. 🙄

when ur contract is up, you can keep your phone if you like it and be able to cancel your service whenever you wish without any termination fees. if you want a new phone, you can sign a new 2yr contract and get a phone at a discounted price.

This might have been said by now, but i didn't read other comments, for that I apologize. This is the dumbest damn question ever. Sit down, and read your Terms And Conditions that you put your signature on when you signed the initial contract.

Ill explain it to use as long as your promise to knock yourself in the head with a hammer.

You will go month to month, and duh, the purpose for renewing is getting the discounted rate of a new phone. Which is the whole purpose of signing a 2yr contract to begin with.

Sorry this sounded so rude. It is starting to get old with people not knowing what they are paying for or what they originally agreed to. Its stupid.
